excellent overall ride and durability

I've used these for a few years now and I can only say good things about them, nice firm ride, long durability, and puncture resistant.

amazing grip, so far great durability

I bought these tires from PBK on sale this winter at a great discount, and I am not disappointed. They grip well, look great on my bike (Silver lettering blends in with my frame, doesn't clash). I managed a few hundred kms so far this spring (Rocky dirty conditions), with continental race light tubes with no issues or flats.

great tire

Switched to these tires after dealing with my 3rd flat last season on my stock Specialized Pro tires. When I asked my cycling friends for tire recommendations, almost all of them recommended these tires. Should have switched a lot sooner.

They roll extremely smooth and you will notice the difference instantly.

great rolling and cornering tyre

Purchased a pair last July to replace my Specialized All-Conditions based upon a recommendation. I was amazed at how much better they roll through corners and grip the road when I'm turning, which really comes in handy on crits. While I do get slightly more flats on these than on the Specialized, they still are very good with flat prevention. Not to mention I still have life in the tyres I bought in July (I usually get about 10,000 km per year).

Arguably the best all-around road clincher money can buy

I have been using the GP 4000 S since their arrival in the market years ago. In my experience, these Black Chili compound tires boast noticeably lower rolling resistance than siblings featuring Continental's Advanced Silica Compound (ASC). However, contrary to marketing claims, the Black Chili compound tends to wear out slightly sooner than its ASC counterpart. I get an average of 2400 miles from my rear GP 4000 S, as opposed to the 2600-2700 I used to get from the ASC GP 4000. (For the record, I do not rotate tires. And neither should you!)

To be fair, it is possible the slightly lower mileage is influenced by rider weight, as yours truly could be considered a "Clydesdale." But even taking that into account, durability is quite impressive for a high-performance tire. The lower rolling resistance, the improved grip during cornering - and in wet conditions - and the overall ride feel of the GP 4000 S more than compensate for the small trade off in mileage.

As far as flats, I only tend to experience them once the tread wear indicators have faded significantly. Which is to say, when I am tempting fate, trying to squeeze all the miles I can out of these tires. By then, any flat means it's time for a new tire.

Originally, the "S" in the name made reference to both the new Black Chili compound and the stylish silver labels. (The latter don't tend to contrast with a bike's color scheme as the traditional orange Continental labels often do.) To the best of my knowledge, all black-tread, foldable Grand Prix tires now feature Black Chili, with ASC used in GP 4000 tires with colored treads.

the best clincher tyre I have used at any price

These tyres are quite amazing. They seem to do everything well - they are light, durable, supple and roll very nicely. Probably the standout feature is the ability to grip in the wet. I have complete confidence in these tyres in wet/poor road conditions - the rubber compound borders on amazing. They also have pretty good puncture resistance unless they are right near the end of their life. The only weakness I have found with these tyres is that the sidewalls eventually feather and I have had a couple that had a tube start to poke through - a sure sign it's time to order another.
Finally they are great value, with PBK frequently having specials on these.

Great grip and handling on the road. Also has a really supple ride. I've never flatted on these tires either.

The perfect tire, light weight, excellent grip, lowing rolling resistance, long wear life, and highly resistant to punctures and road debris.

the best tire

I have tried many brands and types of tires but these are by far my favourite. Fantastic grip, wear, even in wet, and I have yet to flat in nearly 2000km!

excellent

Great tyre for the commute and race. Never had any troubles with them (stacks, punctures etc). Wear holes are a handy little feature to help aid tyre rotation for even wear. Nice conservative branding on the tyre walls make them compatible with any coloured frame.
