excellent race tyres

5

I've used these tyres in a few hilly and longer races (>100km), and everytime I'm impressed by their grip, lightness, and puncture resistance. Have never had a puncture during a race, and have always felt much zippier (compared to my Gatorskins) when it came to a climb or sprint. Definitely recommend, especially at the cheap multi-buy prices PBK offers.

bad luck or just bad?

I'm not sure what people switch from when giving this tire glowing reviews. Perhaps it's just my bad luck. I kicked a stone into the sidewall on the first one, and it left a tube aneurism poking through that was too scary to ride on again. Replaced at LBS and had a similar event a short time later, smaller cut and smaller bubble, but still not confidence-inspiring. I switched to Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX and on the first ride it felt like bliss. I've pinged countless stones into the sidewalls on these since, and no cuts at all, let alone tube poking through. I've ridden other Conti tires; in fact some really old GS 1000 are still on my trainer, and some '95 semi-slicks are on an old mtn bike, and they're still in service. Whatever the issue is with 4000S sidewalls, it's not acceptable. Beyond that, relative to the CX, rolling resistance is mediocre and cornering is sketchy. I'm just not sure what people see in these tires.

great tires

GP 4000s is a great tire for everyday training and racing. I have used them for three years now and I won't be changing anytime soon. They ride amazingly and wear great too.

These tyres are very easy to fit, they look good and roll well. I will be getting some more!

i swear by that tire

For me the GP4000S is what a tire should be: fast rolling, great adherence, and most of all great durability/puncture resistant. Never felt as confident with a tire. Had many Michelins in the past and they wore out faster, and were more fragile.

Tech-laden tyres that deliver in all departments

It's just what you want from a tyre...tiny particles have more points of contact with the road surface for better grip, while at the same time reducing wear because of being so tightly knitted to each other... a Vectran breaker belt to help reduce punctures, is this the future of tyres?

Favourite tyres

These tires are truly the best value compromise between grip, durability, and weight that I have found in any tire. I have only flatted twice in 2,000 miles and both times were from a worn car brake rotor sliver. I'm extremely satisfied overall with the wear of the tires. I think I should be able to get another 2,000 miles on them easily. They roll great and have confidence inspiring grip on turns and descents. I haven't found a tire that matches this value yet.

awesome allround tyre

Having upgraded from the stock Continental Sports, these tyres are a MAJOR improvement. Great rolling speed with good grip in all conditions, no puncture in over 2000klms so far. Bought a spare set as a backup.

brilliant

The best available clinchers. Super fast, good grip in wet conditions, and very puncture resistant. Ran a set of these for 10.000km with only 2 flats.
