favourite tires

I've been through countless tires on my road bike and this is, by far, the absolute best I've used. They're great for racing, they grip well, and they have very little rolling resistance. Lately I've been using mine for commuting and they function beautifully. Rarely get flats.

Good racing tire. Out lasts other tires.

Amazing race tyre

I brought these tyres on special as they are usually quite expensive in NZ. I have gone through a few pairs of these tyres and have not been disappointed. Nice light tyre that is great for racing. Has very good cornering abilities - even in the wet. They roll really well, and appear to be fairly puncture resistant!

close to perfect

Great tyre, sticks to the road well, light casing and low rubber means very fast (even on rough roads). Doesn't tolerate running at lower pressures and will pinch flat or allow glass through a little easier than its beefier cousins (GP4000 and GP Force tyres). Silver decals look bling too. Not the tyre to stick on the turbo trainer however! Wear life is not the longest...this is a race tyre kids...can't have everything!

3000+miles, 0 flats

5

Well OK, I had one pinch flat on the rear tire hitting a deep pothole. But that was due to under inflated tire, and not the tread. Otherwise, zero punctures for all of last season.
I don't get into all the technical hoopla about rolling resistance blah blah blah. I just want to ride and not worry.
Just get a set and find out for yourself.

wicked, fast & full of grip

5

The 'S' in the title designates a special compound that lends the rubber a more supple feel, which reduces rolling resistance & improves traction, ie faster cornering. Unlike some race only tires, these hold up remarkably well to season long riding; they offer above average puncture protection & are slow to wear down. Rotate them every thousand miles or so for longer life & better performance.

brilliant all-rounder

It's durability is almost second to none seeing as many consider it a race tyre. Did not have a flat for the first 6 months after original fitting. Absolutely stoked, have only had to replace one set in a year and a half.

Would recommend to anyone, serious racer or not.

Great all around tire

These tyres have been the best clincher tyres I have rode yet. They have a lot of grip in all conditions, are super light, and I have yet to flat on them, and have ridden them for one full season. Overall they are one of the best tyres out there.

I would love to give these more stars but the sidewall threads come off!!

I have ridden both the 4000s and the 4000 tires, including several sets of 4000s after the one set of 4000 tires. I find them to have very good longevity and are very durable towards road debris when it comes to small cuts and such (which I see on Michelin Pro3Race).

However, I have seen sometimes rather than a small cut an 'chuck' of the outer black compound go missing to reveal a brownish underlayer below the main tread, and on probably half a dozen (including a set of 4000s with extreme failure) the sidewall threads come off. At times it is just a couple, on some tires it is many many of them. This is inexcusable and cancels out the other nice things about these tires.

If the sidewall threads did not come off, I would easily give them a 4 and maybe a 5.

I have since completely switched over to the Michelin Pro3Race tires. The tire tread gets cut more on the Pro3 tires, but it rides a heck of lot nicer and faster for me and I have never ever had any of the problems like on the Contis.

Would love to like these more, but I can't.

excellent tyres

Durable, soft and flat resistant in all weathers. Everything you'd want from tires.
