Beautifully made but so much smaller than expected

5

Like all Santini products, this is a beautiful garment but I wish I'd read the other reviews before I hit "buy". Like all Santini shorts and tops (and I should have known better by now) you should only buy these if you are built like a pro cyclist - i.e. like a stick. I normally buy L or XL depending on the size guides, went XXL for these and they are ridiculously smaller than many L-sized garments in my extensive collection of bibs. Very disappointed I can't wear them - will probably re-gift them as a Christmas present to another cyclist that normally wears M or L sized bib shorts.

Fantastic Bibs

5

These are fantastic quality, I forget they are on which is testament to how good they are! I’m 6 foot 2 and 92kg and XXL fit perfectly. These have become my favourite bibs for rides up to 200 km and are tremendous value. Originally bought 1 pair and have since bought another 2.

Sizing and seams

2

Very tight fit. Medium in this model is really small in others. Very tight fit. I’m 34inch waiste. 5’7”. 75kg. Should have gone for large however legs might be too long. So would not buy again. Also I noted the stitching near the pad. On other shorts it’s about 60mm away from pad. So it sits up further away from saddle. However the stitching on this item runs right next to pad. There for your sitting on the stitch as well as the pad. And this creates discomfort on buttocks.

Super tight

I was meant to return them and never got to it. I bought XL and it fits like a M. Waste of money. The construction is nice and they are nice bibs but the fitting is off by 2 sizes. I’m giving them to my wife.

Great bibs but I shoulda read the reviews for sizing before ordering

4

Read the sizing reviews before ordering. I am 6' 220 and I ordered the XL. Very tight, my wife would have loved the look about 20 years ago but now not so much. For sizing I would go up 1-2 sizes. I did get some compliments on the shorts the first ride out. I will not go through the pain of returning these bibs, I will ride with them in hopes of losing enough weight so they fit in the spring.

Nice but tight!

I usually buy Nalini gear and thought I would give these a try. I ride about 5000km/yr. I ordered a large based on the size chart. I weigh 160lbs, height 5'11, 31-inch waist. When I took them out of the package I started laughing. I put them on for a joke. They were tiny. Luckily my friend (140 lbs soaking wet) could fit into them. The price was OK and they looked nice so I ordered an XXL. They just arrived and fit, (although I better not put on any weight over the winter).

Santini Mago bib shorts

4

Just received those this morning. Quality looks great and they seem to be well made (label indicates 'Made in Italy'). From a size standpoint, I am 6 feet tall, 210 pounds and the XXL is a snug fit (maybe need to loose a few more pounds... :) . Can't wait to try ithem on the bike and make this a 5 stars!

Snug fit

4

I'm 5'7", 175 lbs, 34" waist. I purchased a LARGE based on the size chart and the reviews posted here. They are a very snug fit. I almost thought I was going to tear them when putting on for the first time. I suppose this would be because in the past I have bought cheaper, lighter weight, relaxed style bib shorts. I could maybe have gone with an XL but then the straps would be too long. They are a high quality, thick material and cut long on the thighs. The seat pad is very good quality, probably the best I've experienced. If you are on the fence regarding size then go one size up. I rated 4 star due to the tight fit. Would definitely purchase again.

Great shorts

I wore these bibs for the 1st time today. I wasn't fond of bibs. I had purchased a pair of DeMarchi bibs that gave me a wedgie. These shorts have pockets on the side to carry a gel and the chamois has a groove in the peritoneal area which reduces chaffing. I liked them so much, I bought another pair.
