scicon bag

faultless bag, what every travelling cyclist should have.

Best soft case on the market!

It really doesn't get easier than this: wheels off, bike in, tighten straps, zip up, fly out. No wonder many Pro Tour teams and riders use these bags. Would recommend this bag to anyone, it really is the best option out there at the moment!

Scicon surprise

5

Just received this bag. Pleasantly surprised that it included a few extra goodies -- skewers to mount the frame to the metal bottom of the bag (I assumed you'd have to use your own or pay extra for some); a few pieces of extra 'scicon' branded padding; a spare caster/red wheel for the bottom of the case; and as a bit of a bonus, a scicon small bike pump. Still to be seen just how much rough treatment it can all take from airline baggage handlers as your wheels and frame still fundamentally provide the structure to the bag (so I'll be padding it out a bit), and whether it's going to cost me extra for being 'over sized' (even if under weight) as it is not small, but hey, it's much cheaper, lighter and less disassembly work than the hard case version. The 'free' delivery option to Austria took 3 business days although the initial processing before dispatch took about the same again.

Iffy

I bought this as an "upgrade" to my current Scicon bag that requires more dis-assembly and does not have casters. The shifters are left in a vulnerable position so I'd probably rotate the bars down so they'd be less exposed. Also, it seems there were supposed to be padding strips that attach by Velcro to the bag where shifters are, but mine did not come with the padding. My inquiry on the matter to PBK went unanswered. The rear-most pulley in the derailleur assembly pokes into the back of the bag. It protrudes enough that you can see its shape when the bag is closed. Clearly this means it is vulnerable so I'd remove the derailleur to prevent damage. Removing the derailleur and rotating the handlebars will take extra time, defeating some of the supposed advantages of this bag. Additionally, the casters seem quite vulnerable and do not spin freely - at least one of them binds constantly. Returning this bag would be quite a hassle as I'm in the U.S., but if had seen how this bag is in use I would not have gone through with the purchase. For me, it does not live up to its promise.

Decent

Used it on a flight from Melbourne to Singapore. Very easy to pack and the 4-wheels make it very convenient to push around. However, I used lots of padding/bubble wrap the bike, as I wasn't sure how safe it was. And luckily I did, as my bike bag now has a cut at the chain stay area after just one flight (Emirates!!!) and a MAJOR scratch on my frame. Have to patch up the bag too. Otherwise, a good soft bike bag.

Impressive product

The bike is very well protected . It’s simple to pack, reasonably light and tough fabrics are used all over the case. An impressive product.

Excellent bag. Road bike fits in it perfectly. All you have to do is just remove the wheels off the bike. Really simple. Would highly recommended.

Best Bike Bag EVER

You can't really fault it. It's got protection in all the right places and you don't need mechanical skills to pack your bike. You only need to take of the wheels! How easy is that?!

Scicon are ahead of the game. There's a lot of thought that's gone into this product including padding/protection in all the right places.
