Awesome

Really awesome tires. I put them on my Bora One's using the conti glue and had no issues getting them on at all. And I had only pre stretched them on the rim for a couple of hours before moutning.

The ride is really smooth as one would expect, fast, quick rolling tyres that corner really well too. Definitely recommend.

Worth Every Penny

I raced these tyres for the first time in '09 in a week long tour which included many twisty descents on wet roads covered in moss and ash from recent fires. They held on like you wouldn't believe!

They are not the longest lasting tubulars available but offer more protection from cuts than CX's do. I actually rode mine long enough that the first time I got a puncture on them was when I got down to the canvas without realising during the next tour.

Good compromise

I've been using conti comps for about 3 years now. They work. I had a batch that were a pain to mount, even with pre-stretching, but most have worked without issue. They aren't the smoothest nor supplest ride, but they don't puncture as easily as other high end tires and the quality control has been much better than other tubulars I've used (veloflex, challenge).
I've also been able to repair most of my punctures with sealant, saving those few rides and getting the most out of the tires. My rear tires have lasted 3500 to 4000 km and the front tires tend to last, well, forever-- actually I had to remove my last one after 2 seasons, it was starting to show its age, but the tread was still fine!

Reliable and tough

5

I've used Conti Competitions for close to 20 yr.s and in that time have suffered only two slow leaks! One was in a tire 5+ yr.s old that I probably should've replaced.

The newer model with a single Vectran belt, as opposed to two nylon belts, rides and grips better than the old Competitions, and seems to be just as reliable. The Chili compound seems to help their grip. Vittoria Evo CX's still feel softer-riding but the Cont's aren't far behind. Wear is normal for a high-end tubular- not as long-lasting as clinchers, but you'll get a full season out of the rear and many seasons out of the front tire.

They are tough to mount without serious pre-stretching but that makes me trust that they'll stay on the rims. They've always mounted straight.

I hope they keep making this tire for many years. I just trust them more for road racing than any other tire.

The best tubular tyre for the road. A tyre made for the pros and it really feels like it. Really fast and puncture resistant. Used them for any kind of event. Road Race, Time Trial and Criterium. They really makes you go fast.
