Nice

I'm glad I can examine it with precision. I bought it and had to repair the chain myself.

Has limitations

Good tool...application of it is 'everything'.
You can swivel the checker into any chain and get it to suggest the chain needs replacement (even on a brand new chain). The trick is to let tool sit naturally in an unloaded section of chain (i.e. not above chainstay but below). Is a good indicator of chain wear but not a golden rule by any means

Allows you to replace your chain before it's fully stretched

If you run a worn/stretched chain, you will ruin your cassette, jockey wheels & chain rings in short order. Not to mention you're wasting effort. If you have a chain checker such as the CC-2, then you can easily keep track of the wear on your chain (<.75 is 'ok', .75 or higher = replace). You may choose to have your LBS replace the chain, but unless you have a chain checker, how will you know when you need to have it replaced.

What I like about the CC-2 is that I can see the chain gradually stretch, when it begins to approach .75 I order a new chain. That is something that true/false type checkers don't give you enough info to do. Once a true/false chain checker registers stretch, the chain is fully stretched and in need of immediate replacement.

A $20 investment that will save you a lot more money in replacing cassettes, jockey wheels & chain rings.

Great tool!

This is a great tool. It takes up precious little space in your tool kit or gear bag. It allows you to know just how long your chain is probably going to last based on the scale's reading. You get maximum mileage out of the chain without worrying about wearing out the cassette and chain rings.
