Excellent, well constructed and a " must have tool ". Don't do brakes without it.

Another great and handy product from Park Tool

5

I love this product. It is extremely handy and makes cabling up for front derailleur and brake callipers just that little bit easier. I always try to buy Park Tool as they make top quality products that seem to last forever and are bike shop mechanic standard tools. The usual quick delivery service from ProBikeKit even on their standard delivery option. Try and catch them on a deal to get a little discount which is most of the time with PBK.

A bit expensive, but worth it

There are many variations of this product on the market, but this has to be one of the best. It has definitely made my job easier and given me a third hand when I have desperately needed one. I can set the tool and completely let go of it in order to test the brake cables. Highly recommended!

a basic job done well plus a convenient lock

5

This is a common tool offered by several companies all of which do the same basic thing. This tool does a great job with that basic thing. What's different between this & some of the others is a locking ratchet. I've read previously that the lock is something between unnecessary & inconvenient. It may be unnecessary, but it is a convenience that makes it possible to pull to the right tension & then let go, relax & either free up your other hand &/or not worry about over tensioning the cable while your focusing on securing it. I use the tool on my brakes as well as derailleurs, it is on the latter where having your other hand is helpful & it is also important not to accidentally over tighten the cable. Rarely has the lock engaged when I didn't want it to, it hasn't been a big deal. If, however, you are the kind of person who yells at your garden hose when it gets stuck on a corner, the lock could be similarly irritating.

The best specialist tool in my tool box

5

Before I bought one of these, I remember fiddling around with brake cables endlessly. Now that I own one, those days are a distant memory.
This device is magic for setting cables (it does work on derailleurs too, but is really meant for brakes). You can feed the cable through, set the lock on the tool, and completely let go of the tool - then you can try the brake lever for feel and readjust as needed to get that perfect adjustment before tightening the pinch bolt.
If you install a lot of brake cables then one of these is a must-have purchase. They are magic.
