Fizik Aliante

I have a couple of saddles by Fizik and I find them extremely comfortable. I purchased a new bike and tried to ride for a month with the new saddle. I tried various angles, positions and saddle alignments. To no availe I had such a sore back I took the supplied saddle and put it where it belonged (in a dark place, never to be used again). Since purchasing the Fizik Aliante Cabon K:Ium I have had nothing but comfort and alignment. The carbon twin flex subframe is amazing! I can ride my bike in comfort to match the frame it is mounted on!

We love the Aliantes scooped shape

Your benchmark saddle will be one that fits your bum, but the Aliante is a favourite of ours for its shape, comfort and sensible price and weight. Its twinflex base led to the Kurve's composite base, and the looped carbon rails on some of the Aliantes saddles gave rise to the Mobius rail. We love the Aliantes scooped shape, which keeps you planted comfortably, with a raised tail to push against on climbs.

Good for some, but not me

The Fizik Aliante Carbon saddle has a classic shape. It also has some what of a scooped shape with a dip in the middle. On the K:ium railed version the carbon comes from the carbon-kevlar shell that is quite flexible and has a depression in the area where your most sensitive parts typically rest. The foam is firm, but far softer than most. At first it has a distinctly plush, soft feel.

For short rides I found the saddle to be unquestionably more comfortable than other saddles. However, the scooped shape contributed to a chaffing problem that was cured by switching to the flatter, firmer Arione CX. The Aliante is also fairly heavy relative to other Fizik models or other brands.

If you are looking for a plush saddle with little concern for chaffing or weight the Aliante is a great choice. If you want something that may not be as plush, but comfortable on long rides and weighs less I would choose something flatter and firmer.

Great saddle!

Great saddle, Kium rails are light and upper design and application is great. the carbon base is 'actual' carbon (not injection moulded plastic with graphite fibres which adds little support) and holds up very well over time. The base supports well and does so over a long time, the foam in the upper does degrade a little quickly, this means the solid base loses a bit of its merit but is a truly well designed and made saddle. Good for road, MTB or TT, doesn't like getting and staying wet (i.e triathlon)...but the newer versions have fixed that to a degree with the one piece upper...one of the best saddles made

Lightness and comfort combined

The Aliante is Fizik’s classic road saddle, its deep, curved shape distinctive among modern road saddles (most of which are influenced by Fizik’s revolutionary Arione model, which has a much flatter prole).
The Aliante’s shape makes for a saddle that’s supremely comfortable; it’s more a saddle that you sit ‘in’ rather than perch upon. The kicked up rear gives you something to push against when pedalling uphill, and makes descending feel more stable for the same reason.
But it is one of the best saddles we’ve found for long rides, at a weight that doesn’t penalise comfort.
