CS600X is a very very good heart rate computer.

Great cycling-specic HRM and training software

3

There's a brief leaflet for initial setup, and a comprehensive manual on disc- and you'll need it to make the most out of the CS600X. AS befits its price, this is an HRM for the serious trainer, but doesn't have cadence, GPS or power functions, though they're available separately.Otherwise, it lets you know everything you could want about your sessions, linking to your computer (PC only) by infra-red. Calories, temperature, downloadable training programs, Polar's fitness test... the list is endless, but take time with the instructions first.

Packed with features in a small package!

The CS600 is one of the least expensive system that also allows you to measure power output (in watts) with the optional (not included) Polar Power Module.

Positives:
-Excellent cycling-specific measurement (Speed (Average, Current, Maximum), Cadence, Incline/Decline, Altitude, Calories, etc)
-Power Output
-Lightweight unit
-Coded sensors including Heart Rate Chest Strap
-Wireless System
-3-Lines of Data
-Up to 3 Bikes
-Polar ProTrainer 5.0 Software has great output information
-Coded Chest Strap (W.I.N.D.) does not work at the gym so you will need an un-coded strap if you want to measure HR using the gym equipment (Life Fitness, etc).

Negatives:
-Power Module is not that easy to install/tweak
-Power measurement is not as accurate as competitor (SRM, Quarq, Powertap)
-Sensor teaching is finicky
-Night Mode is useless

If you want an inexpensive way to measure your performance, this is a great little unit - you can have all the features including power for under $1,000. Instructions for installing the POWER module is available on www.youtube.com. Although not as accurate as SRM, PowerTap or Quarq in terms of wattage measurement, you don't really need to worry as the results are relative. It only becomes an issue if you wish to compare power output with other systems.

For Those Wanting More Than a Cyclocomputer....

Contrary to what others have written, I really like the Polar CS600. It has all the features of the more expensive ones (even with Power). Granted, the setup and accuracy of the Power/Watt readings may not be as good, it is all relative (if you are tired today, your wattage might not be as good as another day - assuming you are using the same system to measure Power). I have the maximum 3 bikes set up on my CS600X and the software is good, but there are better ones (Training Peaks, for example). Overall, I think this unit is well made - and I love the W.I.N.D. technology on the sensors (although they are not user-serviceable for changing batteries on the sensors).

Ultra comprehensive training/coaching cycle computer, but not as user friendly as others.
