TRP V brakes

Bought these to replace the cantilever brakes that where rusting off my winter beater. Very easy to install and adjust. First ride/first stop sign with them, I almost went over the handlebars. They stopped the bike way quicker then the old canti's. Very happy with them after a month of riding. Would recommend.

Sharp brakes

These brakes are nice to have. I bought them to install on my cyclocross bike. I was surprised to see how easy it was to adjust them. The braking quality is extremely good. I recommend to everyone who want to use v-Brakes on there cyclocross.

A true upgrade

I don't know why I didn't do this sooner! Replaced an 8-year-old pair of Tektro mini-Vs, and the difference was obvious from the first deceleration. Better late than never, I suppose

Significant improvement over standard V-brakes. Squeal loudly, but probably need to experiment with brake blocks. Overall pleased. Look much classier than my V-brakes.

As powerfull as cable discs without the weight and complexity. I am using these with old style Shimano STI levers and they have to be set up with fairly low pad clearance. The lever feel is fairly soft but the power is excellent. There is also no judder or noise that can happen with cantilevers.

Easily better than canti's

Like most people, i've be unsatisfied with the stopping power and fiddly nature of the canti-style brake so i thought i'd give these a go. I remember when v-brakes were new on the market for MTB's and the difference they made to my riding at that time, these are exactly the same. Power is vastly improved and set up was easier, although not as easier as i'd imagined from the other reveiew but read the instructions and you'll be fine. Mud clearance is fine too!

Worth considering if you're shopping this price range

In researching my purchase, it seems that most buyers were switching from cantis. Improved braking and decreased fork shutter were all stated as reasons for switching. In my case, my bike was already equipped with Tektro’s RX-6 mini-v brakes. I can’t objectively say that the money spent on the CX-9 decreased my braking distances - the RX-6 stopped my bike just fine. The main difference is the ease of adjustment. From the more substantial spring with its hex key adjustment screw to the spacers on the brake pad arms, I was able to install the brakes and dial in the adjustment very easily. The resulting benefit is better brake lever feel (for both the STI-levers and cross tops).
