The Benefits of DMT Knit:
- DMT’s propriety knit technology is not only truly revolutionary, but features across their full range, all the way from the highest level down to their entry level models. This means it offers ALL cyclists for the first time, whatever their level of riding, a shoe that fits as comfortably as a glove!
- Engineered 3D Knit features multi-layer construction which flexes and conforms to the individual shape of each rider’s foot, offering a truly comfortable and customised fit.
- DMT Knit is not only incredibly lightweight, but it is also highly breathable, wicking moisture away from your feet, much like the fabric of your cycling jersey works to keep you dry when you are riding hard.
- The seamless knit reduces pressure points

Everyone speaks of the knit uppers of DMT shoes (and rightly so), but it is particularly the outsoles and insole combined that shine for me here. Huge arches, which you will want to press your feet against, as they feel just so comfortable, with some gentle cushioning and a really brilliant shape. These are the same as the KR1s', and you get them at a lower price point here. The shoes are very light, the retention system is excellent, with the flaps eliminating pressure points at the center of your forefeet -- which people complain of regarding both the KR1s and the KR3s. DMT's size guide is spot on. My feet are 28cm and, according to the box the size 44 goes up to 28.36cm (it would help if DMT included this info in the size guide too, even though it can be inferred), so there is some wiggle room for my toes without any sign of hill slippage. I am a size 44.5 with Giros and Sidis, so do follow the general advice of going half size down with the DMTs. There *were* pressure points around the upper/inner part of the insteps in both shoes (just next to the SH1 logos), and I felt some friction in the heel retention rubber inserts too. I was a bit upset initially thanks to these, and it thus took me a bit to get used to the shoes. But after just a few rides (and in my case some rain which might have helped soften the microfiber a little bit), these were completely gone. In short: for all the stiffness in the outsoles (which you will want to have), the DMT SH1s are also incredibly comfortable. And, in the black option I got, they are gorgeous too. You won't regret going with them over the KR3s or the KR1s. Those two look sleek, and are surely more popular (you won't find many reviews of the SH1s, so I hope this one helps!), but the SH1s are truly elegant shoes. They feel so prime and sophisticated, and even better looking in person than they do online -- particularly at night/before dawn, when that magic reflective dust in the heels comes to life. There is nothing you can default the SH1s specifically for -- except for, like the KR1s and the KR3s, the lack of some added protection from wear at the toes. That beautiful carbon outsole will get scratched there in no time. Other than that, go for the shoes. You won't regret a bit.
So pleased with these DMT shoes. Excellent quality and very comfortable thanks to the knitted area at the front of the shoe. Knitted area still very supportive as well. Sizing says to go 1/2 down from normal. I’d say they are true to size. I used to wear 43 specialized and 43 in these is perfect. My foot measures 270mm (I tried lakes previously so measured! These are more comfortable than lake 402s by the way.) Boa dials are excellent with 2 way adjustment. Very stiff with excellent power transfer. Highly recommended.
