Solid wheels. I've used them for racing and training and have been impressed with their stiffness and responsiveness. However, I have to admit the most impressive quality has been durability. This summer a buddy and I got caught at the top of Mt. Evans when a sleet and rain storm rolled in. Anyone who's done this ascent and descent knows the seams at the top are brutal, like running into a curb every 15 feet. Given the conditions, and fear of hypothermia, I threw caution to the wind and railed the descent, soaking wet, braking hard, pounding the seams, shivering all the way down. I figured when I stopped, I would find my wheels destroyed, brake tracks shredded, but after cleaning and inspecting the wheels, they were immaculate. I've ridden a lot of wheels over 30 years. These impress me.
These lightweight 1500g training clinchers could easily be used in criteriums or hilly road races too, but they are such a value you can knock around on them for daily miles without any concern. Not that many miles on them yet to comment on durability but i've had good experience with fulcrum previously over 1000s of miles provided a modicum of maintenance is done. They are stiff, light, smooth with fuss free aluminum construction. Reliable all weather braking performance. Came nicely boxed, totally true and signed by the builder. Tires mount up easily, no rim tape needed - whats not to like.
Wanted better wheels for my wife and these are perfect. The price point on sale was great. Researched a number of brands and wheels and these work perfect for my wife on her Specialized Dolce Elite. Lock ring was included and had the new cassette on in a pinch.
Rims were delivered on time. Great purchase at the best price.
I just bought these new wheels and have ridden them for about 400 miles so far. They are a big improvement on my old Fulcrum 5, lighter and stiffer. And they also look better.
Wheels are very responsive and very smooth. I can maintain about 1mph higher for the same effort which I'm very pleased with. Have about 150 miles on them so far and they are perfectly true.
Installed these new wheels the other day and they roll true and fast. Would buy again if needed.
Received the wheels in Honolulu, Hawaii 12 days after ordering. 4 of the 12 days, the wheels were stuck in customs. Very happy with the wheels, but pleasantly surprised with probikekit.com service. 5 *****
In comparison to stock wheels these wheels are a tremendous upgrade. Much lighter and roll smoother with stiffer turning abilities.
It's winter so initial impression based on short 10 mile rides. Swapped with Shimano RS81 C24s on a Ridley Fenix, Noticeably faster and a smoother ride but yet to control for tyres: the Shimanos are fitted with Bontrager RW 1s and the combination of stiff wheels and hard case tyres makes for an unforgiving, harsh ride. The Fulcrums are teamed with Continental GP 4000s which seems like a beautiful combination. They roll smoothly, accelerate instantly and are quiet (other reviews notwithstanding). Have yet to see whether matching the C24s with GP4000s will eliminate the performance difference. Suspect it will but the Fulcrums are still about 10% cheaper and more stylist - the white hubs are eye-catching in a good way. Overall, very pleased with these first set of Fulcrums.
Received the wheels in California nice and fast! Factory packaging was superb, but the real treat are the wheels themselves. First off, lighter than advertised: 655g front and 850g rear on my digital scale (Campag freehub, without QRs). making these just 50g heavier than my 2009 Zeros! Build and finish are top shelf, perfectly round and straight. Have about 300 miles on them... Nice and (sprinter) stiff, yet quite forgiving and comfortable in all conditions. They actually feel faster (less resistance) than the Zeros, no doubt due to the thinner, highly strung slight-bladed spokes. They are very stable in cross-wind and blustery conditions. These are just about the perfect do-it-all wheels!
