Campagnolo have created a powerful new option which is designed to work with 28mm tyres, C17 and C19 rims and is much more aerodynamic. The lever movement and bearings are completely new, this aides in modulation and increases smoothness.

Typical Campagnolo
I think Shimano makes excellent components but for me I use Campagnolo exclusively. Call it panache or what you will, but there is something about Campagnolo that belongs on a nice bicycle. The same can be said for rim brake calipers as opposed to discs. Disc brakes are just ugly and don't come anywhere close to the adjustability of rim brake calipers.
