The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

Best price on a proven winner. These tires have it all--low weight, durability and great traction.
great tires suited well with my wide rim great in the corners and descent.
Great tire Amazing price. Two shipped at the price of one in the USA. The only place I buy tires. Sometimes I get the Michelin Pro Fours because they are a softer ride, but the Contis are more durable.
This is my go-to tire for road. Best performance, great value. I still check other tires when it's time to buy and always land on the 4000S.
Having ridden many years on 23mm tires, I finally succumbed to the lure of going to a larger (25mm) tire. After ridding close to 200 miles in the past couple of weeks since getting the new GP 4000S's I now know that the comfort level afforded by a large tires raved about all over the web is true. Being 6'-4" and 200 lbs. I seem to give any tire I ride an extra workout. Since my riding consists of mainly riding roads leading me at times to paved trails (where throughout the ride, conditions can go from newly paved asphalt to asphalt similar in consistency to cobble stones) I see every aspect of road condition out there. But, by running the GP 400S's at a lower p.s.i. (I run mine at about 100 p.s.i.) than any 23mm tire I have ever ridden, I really enjoy not getting fatigued after a couple of hours in the saddle. I haven’t experienced the tires in the rain as of yet, but after only a few dry rides the tires feel very stable and subtle especially in the corners. I like the tires and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try out a 25mm tire after being on a 23mm, These tires are really about comfortable performance.
Needing to replace the tires on my Trek 2000 i sought advice from a friend who is an avid biker. For my bike the Continental Grand Prix 4000S II Folding Road Tire was recommended. The tire has proven to be an excellent choice for me. The quality construction of the tire resounds in very quiet running on the road. The tread design on the tire offers an excellent gripping action, avoiding skids when making those quick movements which are sometimes necessary when riding in less than the best riding conditions. The tire is also very attractive on my particular bike, and that makes me completely satisfied with all aspects of choosing bicycle tires. Peanut
Love these tyres and whenever I can get a great price I buy a bunch. I rode tubulars for many years and no longer felt the need, these tyres are more convenient and feel very close to a tubular tyre...
I am more than happy with these tires. I was a long time advocate for Michelins, but I wanted to give Conti's a try. Started with the GP4-Season tires and loved them for training in cooler weather. Then I tried the GP4000S II and fell in love with these. They roll real nice and grip very well. I'm sold on these tires.
My ver best all around tires!, training/ racing
This is my second set of these tire. The first set wore exceptions well.
150 lbs riding an old Trek 5900 Superlight with Rolfe Sestriere wheelset. This is a great old bike I picked up in Austin Texas for very small money. Specked out with Dura Ace this bike is light, stiff, and responsive . Comfortable, accelerates quickly in a standing climb agd climbs like a goat. Now let's make it better: I was riding for the past 2000 miles on a pair of old red and blue Continental 3000's which were on the bike when I bought it. Finally they were done, worn through to cloth, covered with cuts and starting to bubble and delam at the same time. Admittedly the old tyres were badly worn and completely past the pail but the new 4000's are awesome. Rolling resistance down dramatically, bike speed up and a genuine sea change in confidence and sure footedness in cornering. I want to guess the old 3000's had at least 3000 miles on them. That speaks volumes about the quality of the brand. The 4000's have immediatly distinguished themselves as a great set of tyres. I saw a brand new Damone with Ultegra Di2 Bontrager spec in my lbs today. Nice new bike and pretty paint but I know my 15 year old Superlight is lighter, stiffer, faster, and riding on new 4000's. Some kid is going to buy that bike and I'm going to drop him all day long.
Have not tried them out yet, but earlier versions were great.
Continental 4000 is my favorite ridding tire. Pro Bick always has the best pricing, and quick shipping!
Been cycling for over 45 years, veteran of small gauge tire's and I 've finally arrived at The Continental 4000S II and loving it. Rough roads that used to rattle my teeth, no problem. Minor pot holes, railroad crossings, and chip seal: almost like glass: in comparison to a 700 X 23 with 100psi. Draw backs: needs bigger CO2 cartage and the tires just fit snugly under my Shimano 105' brakes. When dropping the front wheel it's a tight squeeze. Buy them for comfort, plus they won't slow you down. ja
These tires have been working out great for me. The are reported to have AWESOME rolling resistance... I have posted quite a few PR with them. They are lasting well and have not had any real issues with flats. I have had 1 pinch flat. I have them on 3 bikes and I ride 6,000 miles a year. I need to go knock on some wood!!
Love these tires ... Smooth rolling great durability 😃🚴😃
Durable and reliable. Resistant to road hazards.
This is the tire you want to ride. They wear well - you'll appreciate that the Grand Prix lasts a long time, and if you really want to stretch out your mileage, rotate the front and rear tires every six weeks. They handle well, sticking to the road like glue, you'll have confidence in the corners. The light weight pairs nicely with your wheel-set as every gram counts on the ascent. Did I mention that these tires are handmade, a high quality product, The Grand Prix 4000S II has a "cool factor". There is no substitute, these are the tires to ride or race. See you on the road. HM
I chose the Contis based on their reputation, and I am not disappointed. Theses tires handle and feel great!
Have been using these tires for years. They are by far the best tires I have purchased. The roll great and have had very few punctures, at the most 1 per tire for its life. They grip well even in fast corners, with no concern for slippage. Would recommend.
Been using these tires (including the older versions) for years now, and they never disappointed. They are light, yet can take a decent amount of abuse on training rides. They also have great longevity for a race tire. Mounting the clincher folding versions is never a problem, as with some tires that can be nearly impossible to get on the rim. The GP 4000S II is a common sight at all the local races - for good reason.
I have been running Continental Grand Prix 4000's for years now. I used to buy what ever was on sale but found that limping home on sliced tires was not worth it. I continue to wear these tires beyond the wear marks and still trust them. Great feel and long wear make them a winner for me!
Excellent product and delivered on time in the USA
I have multiple bike shops in our area. None can hold a candle to the pricing and service from PBK! These 4000's are my go-to and will continue to be forever! They ride well and resist flats. I don't see any reason to switch.
Great price and reasonable delivery time. Well done! Derrick
Went from Continental Gatorskin 700 x 23 to Grand Prix 4000s II 700 x 25. After nine months of riding on them, Grand Prix seems to offer the same flat resistance with superior acceleration, handling and stopping. They also seem to wear extremely well. I have 3500 mi. on this set, mostly in the hills, and I'm confident they will make it to a year. Going to the 25 mm wide tire has greatly relieved shoulder and neck fatigue on long rides (60-120 mi.) Well worth a few additional $$ over the Gatorskins.
I participate in may rides over 100 mils with lots of hills. Using Continental Grand Prix for lots of year. Then new 4000S II work very well on dry or wet road. Recommend
These tires were a gift for a friend, who will only ride GP 4000 II's. He's a big guy (14+ stones) so he likes 25c tires, and he was especially happy when he read an article stating the 4000 IIs were the fastest tires!
These tyres were a gift for a friend. He's a big guy (14+ stone) so he likes 25C tyres. These are the only brand he'll ride and he was very pleased to receive them, especially since he'd just read an article saying the GP 4000 II's were the fastest tyres around.
Great tire, worth the money. I did not realize that 25MM was available, which I would have ordered in this lineup of 7 tires.
I've been riding the Conti Grand Prix 4000s tires for years. They're great tires and Probikekit has some of the best prices around.
What else can you say about these tires? 4-5k miles and no flats, and on sale at PBK!!!
OK all-around clincher although overpriced and (IMHO) overhyped in the cycling press. Rolls decent, though not as fast as Conti's own Attack/Force combo, Vittoria Open Corsa, or Michelin ProRace. Handling is good, although there are better. Treadwear is very good for a race tire. But the ride is rather wooden compared to other top tires in this price range...and like a wagon wheel compared to Open Corsa. DEAL BREAKER for me is the weak sidewalls. This summer I was riding an ultra event (200+miles) with a guy who lost not one but 2 of these GP4000s to sidewall damage flats. I witnessed one of his flats and his support crew showed me both tires after the event. Both were near new and looked like suffered damage from small rocks. Bad luck? Maybe but no one from my team had any flats riding those same roads on various other race tires. And there are many other reports on web of sidewall issues with GP4000s. My advice if you like Conti's- use Attack/Force for racing as notably faster with similar durability (though less tread life) or Gatorskins for training as almost as fast as GP4000s and (almost) never flat.
I love these tires. The last one that I had lasted for 5,000 miles before a side wall puncture. They are fast on the flat and great on corner. All of my friends own them and I would recommend them to everyone who is thinking of purchasing their next tires.
Great cornering in wet and dry conditions. Only tire I have had on my bike!
I recently purchased a set of Continental GP4000S II tires from ProBikeKit and couldn't be happier. I have almost 500 miles on these tires. The tires have excellent grip and low rolling resistance. I have noticed my Strava times are lower on many segments. ProBikeKit's tire price was great, and I received my tires within one week to Los Angeles which was faster than I expected. I've read that some people have said that the tires have so-so puncture resistance, but from the friends I've spoken with who have these tires, they say the GP4000S II tires have good puncture resistance. I'm very happy with these tires.
I switched over to the GP 4000s a few years ago from the Vittoria Open Corsas a few years ago. While the GPs are not quite as smooth, they are almost and they a far more durable than the Vittorias. The stability and relative absence of flats make these the best all around value of any tire I've used.
This is a great place to buy tires (tyres) - they are extremely well priced and delivered to the USA very quickly and free.
No issues with any of the ordering or delivery process and I live in CA, USA.
Best tires I have ever used in the 14 years that I have been riding, traction and gripping are great, I will be buying these tires for a long time.
I've purchased 3 sets of the Continental Grd Prix 4000S II clincher tyres since they became available. The tread last a long time, they corner extremely well, and are about as puncture resistant as possible. What else could you ask for? OK, maybe a lower price. But you'll save in the long run with the tread life. This is the best tire money can buy for everyday training and worry free racing. -smallcog11
Switched from Continental Gatorskins 700-23 to Continental Grand Prix 4000S II 700-25. With the lower tire pressure(15lbs.) my overly stiff carbon bike suddenly became much more comfortable, yet none of it's agility or high speed cornering seem to have been compromised. Took it easy at first, to build confidence, but have since done sweeping turns at almost 50 mph, and 180 deg switchbacks at over 35 mph quite comfortably. Bike also seems to accelerate just slightly quicker, both pedaling and descending. No flats so far, despite several significant unavoidable glass encounters, so these seem to have the anti-flat quality of the Gatorskins. Overall a winner ! !
I'm pleased with the performance of the GP 4000SII Conti clinchers. They are relatively light and grippy, which give me the confidence to take more aggressive lines in the turns at faster speeds. However, be warned, they will definitely wear at a faster rate than heavier, beefier tires such as the Conti Gatorskins which is to be expected given the rubber compound and thinner rubber at the touch points. Perhaps consider doing training rides with the Gatorskins and Crits/fast rides with the GP 4000SII's.
excellent tire great price and fast shipping to US
Over 40 years I have tried a lot of different bicycle tires. These are far and away the best so far. Almost bulletproof. I have ran probably 10,000-15,000 Clydesdale miles on Conti GP4000S and SII over the past few years, on two different bikes and have yet to flat. I have had glass and stones stick to the tire (thump-thump-thump) and had to reach down and knock it off, but n air lost. Highly regarded.
they last forever, flat resistant, rols great, BUT, the bead blows off the rim fairly easily when inflating even though the seating of the bead is quadruple checked, and the tire is new or just fixing a flat. I have purchased several pairs and it seems to be a persistent issue. Just check the bead carefully five times and they are great tires.
Great Tire...was a Michelin man for years...but switched to these 2.5yrs ago.
I have been ordering my Continental tires and tubes from PBK for years now. Best place in the world to get them from! From a convenient, and easy to use website, to friendly and professional representatives to talk to on the phone, I have used and have had nothing but pleasant experiences. Keep up the good work, Pro Bike Kit!!!!
I am looking for a tire for my IRONMAN Race. I need one that will be fast, but also durable so I don't have to change a flat during the race. After searching reviews, I found this one the Continental Grand Prix 4000S. They installed easy, look great, are very fast and durable so far. Given, I've only been on one 46 mile ride as soon as I got them. The only down side to this company is they took about 10+ to ship to Chicago IL. However, I didn't mind waiting as I was also tuning up my bike at the time and needed about 10 days anyways to get all the other parts ready for biking season here. As this was the best deal I found all over the internet they definitely get 5 stars from me.
very good tire, lasts long mileage. Grip and performance is very good too. Do not over pump this tire because that's when you start getting flats. I weight 190 plus bike and stuff, so total around 207 and I I only put 90 psi front and 95 back - super smooth with minimal rolling resistance and no flats. Get this tire and you will be happy with it.
