The Park Tool CC-3.2 Chain Wear Indicator is a useful tool that allows you to find out how worn your chain is before you need to change it. A worn chain not only shifts poorly and wears down sprockets at an accelerated rate, but it also causes damage to other components of the drive chain. To use the CC-3.2 Chain Wear Indicator, simply insert the tool into the top of the chain and read the measurement. If the chain reaches between 0.75% and 0.5% then the chain is worn or beginning to reach its end and needs to be replaced before other chain components are affected too. - R.K.

Key Features:

  • CC-3.2 Chain Wear Indicator by Park Tool.
  • Measures how worn the chain is before it needs to be replaced.
  • A worn chain shifts poorly and wears down sprockets at an accelerated rate
  • Accurately indicates when a chain reaches 0.75% and 0.5% wear - the point at which most chain manufacturers suggest replacement.
  • The chain should be replaced soon if the 0.75% side fits into the chain, before other drive train components also start to wear out fast.
  • If the 0.5% side fits into the chain, the chain is worn out and should be replaced immediately.
  • Made from precision, laser cut steel.
  • 10-speed compatible.

Please Note: Consider that if you replace a chain because of wear other vital drive-chain components may need to be renewed too.

Chain Wear Tool

Tool works as described and on socials. The packaging for postage was wasteful, excessive (and the cost was higher than necessary).

Great Chain Wear Indicator

ProBikeKit had exactly the indicator I needed and at a great price with fast delivery.

Just plain works

Very straight forward and easy to use. In less than a minute I determined my chain was in between 0.5% and 0.75% worn which means its due to be changed.

it's good

I have always just measured with a ruler to know the state of my chain. I needed to spend a few dollars more to get free shipping so I ordered this. It is simple to use and easier than my ruler. I like it.

Chain wear indicator

Good buy. Indicates when chain is worn and needs replacing. Essential item in toolkit. Should have bought one years ago.

Easy to use

Very easy to use. The tool slips into the stretched chain or it doesn't. Worth the few dollars spent.

Park tool chain checker

It’s a go/no go checker rather than a measuring device. The theory is that the chain must be replaced at 0.5 for an 11 speed chain and .75 for all others if sprocket and chain ring wear is to be minimised. We’ll see!

Peace of Mind

I had a slightly noisy drivetrain on one of my bikes but I didn't think had a great many miles on this chain and cassette. A quick check with this simple tool confirmed that it is worn past 0.5% (but not yet past 0.75%) so I've happily ordered new parts. No more guessing!

essential

An excellent product that does exactly as stated, and is very easy to use. This should save many cassettes and chainrings from worn chains so is great value.

Great tool

I always have my chain wear indicator tool handy and replace my chain as soon as it passes the 0.75 mark. I would definitely recommend purchasing this indicator over the more expensive version, as you really don't need to know the exact mark -- simply knowing whether or not the chain is >0.75 will suffice.
