First class turbo trainer, ideal for zwift. Used most of the settings since purchasing it 2 weeks ago. Resistance adjusts instantly on zwift which makes for a realistic workout with no hiding places. Trainer is smooth and precise. Full ERG mode also very good for an FTP Test. The most impressive feature has to be the power readings. How elite get it so accurate is something else for the price bracket. All sensors instantly hook up to zwift no issues. Power readings compared to vector and stages reads spot on no concerns over drift or skew to within +/- 1. Was looking at a Tacx Neo before purchasing but why spend more when this does it all for a fantastic price. In my opinion elite have a better quality product all round. Resistance maximum of 14% elevation is more than enough for most but if your wanting more we are splitting hairs. Fantastic service yet again from PBK free next day delivery what more can you ask.
For reasons best known to Elite, the Direto implements ERG mode (Zwift workouts, Trainerroad, Sufferfest) in a way that seems to bear no resemblance to the actual use case. Having tried Ant, BLE, Zwift, Elite's own apps, any number of calibration and smoothing options, I simply cannot get this unit to pick a power level and stick with it, instead showing a near sinusoidal swing around the value. It may just be that this is typically Italian and is exceedingly picky about having the cadence and gearing *just* so, but I can't get it there. It's a shame, as otherwise it seems like a cracking unit with very positive reviews, but Elite won't bother answering their emails so I've no idea if I've just got a faulty item or whether "they all do that, Sir".
My Diecto works nicely with Zwift and spin smoothly. A good choice for days I can't ride outside. THE ONLY one problem I have is the noise. It becomes noisy when I do high rev and high power training courses.
I've been using the Elite Direto smart trainer for the last few months at my basement to train over the harsh Canadian winter and it has been an awesome experience! The trainer is simple to use, feels very real in terms of pedalling, Zwift integration seems to simulate the hills pretty well, and the machine has been very reliable. I've been using this with my Apple TV Zwift app with zero issues. The trainer comes with one year myelite subscription but the software isn't that intuitive, hence the knockoff on the stars. It's a lot more fun to be riding with others in Zwift Wattopia then just trying to do your morning routines by yourself anyways. When I was searching in the market for a direct drive smart trainers, this one definitely fit the bill with amazing accuracy and feel compared to other alternatives. Noise hasn't been an issue and is much quieter when compared to my previous old non-smart trainer with trainer tire noise. However, I still prefer having my bluetooth headset on and enjoy either the Zwift surround sound or have my podcast/music on my Apple TV.
I received my Elite Direto Smart Turbo a few weeks ago and held off writing a review until I had a chance to get a feel for it. I had a few issues setting it up and a quick check of the Elite FAQ's son pointed out that this model wont connect to a windows laptop via Bluetooth. Fortunately I had an Ant+ dongle and once I had established a connection the turbo worked brilliantly. The turbo was really easy to build up with just three base legs requiring attachment. fitting the cassette was a doddle. I am using the turbo in may garage and it is fairly quiet and and with a bike installed it is very stable even standing on the pedals giving it some. The power accuracy is very good and the reading response is excellent as well. I primarily bough this as an upgrade to use with Zwift replacing my old Elite Chromo Mag manual turbo and it has transformed my Zwift experience. The changes in resistance feel so realistic it is unbelievable. I would highly recommend this turbo it is great value for money and a great training tool.
I’ve enjoyed the Elite Direto. I read several reviews about different trainer options before purchasing and the Direto has lived up to everything I read about it. I’ve used it with Zwift and it has synced up easily without problems. Very pleased with performance and ease of use. Best value for price out right now.
