Cycleops Pro Series

CycleOps wanted to create a series of professional level trainers that met the goals and capabilities of any serious cyclist. We also wanted to address the unique needs of the many coaches who use our trainers and PowerTap product. With the Pro Series, we have gone one step further by creating a line that is both innovative, durable and in the top end model, integrates the PowerTap technology for precise resistance control.

The Trainer Built for Tri-Geeks, Podium Chasers and First Time Finishers Alike

SuperMagneto Pro combines versatility with an authentic road-like feel. Between seasons, use our SuperMagneto Pro to get in great shape and stay that way. It offers the most versatility of our trainers. You can adjust the resistance curves to fit a conditioned rider or a less physically fit rider. Or modify the curves to fit a big or small rider. And if you plan to share a trainer with another rider, the SuperMagneto Pro is the right choice.

Like Getting Four Trainers in One

Choose a resistance curve and start riding. Tailor your workout with the SuperMagneto Pro Trainer. It offers four resistance curves: easy, road, interval and mountain. No matter how modest or ambitious your goals, this versatile trainer can help you reach them.

  • Easy Setting - Warm up before you ride hard.
  • Road Setting - Ride all day to build volume and build a sweat.
  • Interval Setting - Step up to a more intense workout.
  • Mountain Setting - Take on the trainers most challenging ride.

Each setting allows the units four rare earth magnets to move to a different controlled working diameter as centrifugal force pushes them away from the center. The farther away the magnet is from center, the higher the resistance. Spring-loaded magnets create a more desirable progressive resistance power curve. Because we designed the flywheel with more material on the outer surface, the SuperMagneto Pro delivers a smoother ride and more road-like feel. Precision-balanced fl ywheels add to the realism.

Not that expensive! Simple and effective.

Not sure that I agree with the other reviews that this is expensive. The trainer is simple to use out of the box, is ultra-stable and provides a great workout. The resistance is very progressive: the harder you pedal, the harder you work. I am using the trainer to maintain a level of fitness as I recover from a broken bone after a crash. In "Road" setting, I can pedal easily for 10 minutes to warm up, and then change up to the big ring for 40 minutes of hard work, followed by 10 minutes warm down. My heart is pounding and my legs certainly know that they've had a workout. I've used it in the garden and in the living room and it works fine in both environments. You will be turning the TV up if you are working hard. Get the front wheel block and thong for sure.

Expensive, but solid & adaptable

Starting where Bike Radar left off.

Setting up the Super Magneto is very quick. If you have the trainer skewer in, it takes about a minute to clamp your bike, lock the resistance unit to the tire, pick your resistance & set up the front wheel block (sold separately). Using a skewer other than the one that CycleOps provides will result in cosmetic damage to your skewer.

The adjustment knob on the left leg is effective at levelling the trainer & doesn't hurt the stability of the trainer.

The four resistance settings are distinctly different & all useful. My girlfriend is a casual cyclist & uses the trainer for light spinning, so the first setting is perfect. When I ride for base mileage, sprint intervals & climb simulation I use the remaining three settings. The setting can only be changed when stopped & dismounted from the bike. Each setting offers a broad range of resistance, so I've never needed to reset the unit in the middle of a workout. Also, CycleOps publishes the power profile (Watts/MPH) of each setting, so in lieu of using a power meter, you could index your power at LT using these graphs. Every setting is smooth, there is none of the choppiness typical of magnetic trainers.

As for noise, this is the quietest trainer I've ever heard... that's not to say that it's whisper quiet. The quietest option are rollers without a resistance unit, which doesn't meet my needs. Do not mistake it with traditional magnetic trainers, which are rather noisy. It is slightly quieter than fluid trainers because it does not have the cooling fan with the air noise that that creates.

The Super Magneto is expensive, but I needed a quiet unit that could be used by myself & my girlfriend, so it was the only real option. I am happy with the purchase.
