Best cycling shoes!

These shoes are as advertised, very light, airy, and stiff. The feel is like a glove, and can be worn without socks, if that is something you do. Overall great shoe! Wanted to buy another pair in another color! But I will wait till next year. 5 ⭐️

Great Fit, Low Weight and Comfortable

For reference, I chose a size EU 45. My foot length is about 28-28.4cm. My width at widest point is 9.8cm with a circumference of 23.8cm. 70kg body weight, 180cm height. Used with Shimano 105 R7000 pedals and yellow cleats. The looks: There’s no bulk at the toe, no awkward shape and they look great from any angle. The gluing isn’t quite as perfect as the photo op images, but they show great. Mine are dated MA 2021. The accessories: My KR3s came with a DMT branded carry bag, BOA screw removal tool, pair of screws for LOOK’s memory system, and a Diamant Safety IIR type disposable surgical mask sample with leaflet. The sole stiffness: The KR3 is in the middle of DMT’s stiffness range, so this carbon outsole is the next level up from the KR4 and KT4. I can get slight flex while walking on concrete and bearing my weight on one foot, but not while riding. It could be the cleat. The KR3's soles are very rigid. The Knit: The white portions of the shoe have been coated with a rubber-like treatment while the black fabric is bare and allows air to pass easily. I contacted DMT a month ago about what the coating might be suitable as a UV blocker/fabric protector, but haven't got any reply other than a ticket number. My suggestion is: don’t spray “silicone fabric protector” or “stain protection” without knowing for certain. Just clean with mild non-alcohol hand soap, if needed. The fresh: Inside the shoe, there’s a plate that covers the cleat mounts and has six 3.5mm air holes in a circle in the area of the toe vents. Shining a light through the bottom with the insoles removed, only two holes were passing light in one shoe while 4 were passing light on the other shoe. The cutout process at the factory didn’t clear the cutout material. Using an air compressor and nozzle I was able to clear the obstructions. If new insoles are added by a wearer, they can use a hole punch to maintain airflow. The sizing: Reviews elsewhere say they run half a size large, but that wasn't true here. I used the size chart on DMT’s website for the KR3, stated as (28.7cm x 9.99cm) for EU 45. Probikekit’s size chart for this shoe (EU 45 29.3cm x 9.8cm) shows the length as 6mm longer. This can cause confusion. My straight-line measurements find the length of the insole to be 28.7cm, but the insole doesn’t touch the very front end of the shoe and isn't supposed to. It stays put. If a measure tape is used from the very end of the toe box to the very center of the heel it’s closer to Probikekit’s chart at 29cm. Could I have taken a size EU 44.5? I seriously doubt it. The 45 was a perfect fit for 28-28.4cm feet, with no lateral movement, no chaffing. The IP-1 BOA retention system is easy to use. The tension area over the lower middle-foot only begins to crease slightly when I am at satisfactory BOA tightness. With an insole for arch support this goes away. The ride: The documentation doesn't state the required torque to mount the cleats. I used hand-tight, then backed off 1/8 turn, about 6 Nm. The shoes feel simply great and I completely forgot about them while riding. The lateral fit is snug, the weight is low. DMT should make running shoes, too. I could apply as much power as I wanted and even at 55km/h seated or standing I had no flex. If a cycling shoe does have some flex, that isn't actually bad. If I was to make one change to this shoe, it would be a removable rubber toe, like the heel has (but smaller), because I do scuff the carbon outsole when I unclip and put my foot down. The replacement “heel cleat stud” is available as a pair online.

Impressive design

These are seriously impressive shoes. Very well made and the design is almost perfect. They do run very narrow, and therefore, there is some pressure on my feet on the sides...especially around the boa dial. Lengthwise, they are spot on. I have always worn DMT and find these the most narrow through the mod foot. I have a proper insole in these, with slightly raised arches, and they are fine. To assist with the longevity, I also put a bit of shoe goo on the toe, as there is no bumper to protect the carbon at the very front. I do wonder about the life span of these shoes, as the knit will attract dirt easily. I coated mine in a protective shoe spray when they arrived, and hopefully this will afford some.protection. so far, with over 500k on them, I have had no issues with fit and comfort. The ventilation is especially amazing, so they are well suited to summer in Australia. In the end, a super shoe for cafe rides, as they look amazeballs. I am not sure they will look as good after 6 months.

Love this road shoe!

First time purchasing a DMT shoe. Excellent fit and comfort and very lightweight. Size guideline was perfect and the price was right! Would definitely purchase a DMT road shoe again.
