Odlo minimalist windshell
I purchased the Odlo cycling shell for winter riding. Comparing this to soft-shell jackets of various brands, I think the Odlo stops the wind just as well but controls my temperature better. I still use the zipper to cool and vent but don't seem to get quite as sweaty. The shell is very light and this makes it easier to select an inner layer that fits the riding conditions. The shell is minimalist: no collar lining, no zippered pockets (flap pocket in rear), very light tension elastic drawstring at the waist but all this keeps the weight at just over seven ounces (size small). The fit is fantastic if you have a reasonably athletic build. It has slightly tighter (forearm) sleeves than most jackets but still an ample fit at the shoulder and almost no wind flapping. There are elastic cuffs on the sleeves to control drafts. Hook and loop closures tighten the sleeve. One change I would like to see is the addition of a string pull on the zipper. No problem in warmer weather but it's a bear to operate the zipper with gloves. All in all, a wonderful product from Odlo.
