SKS Race Blades
5Quick delivery, easy to fit and give more room than Cruz blades. Only been out once but happy so far.

5Bought for my winter bike which I also commute on. Bit fiddly to fit as the instructions are naff, but once on they're really good. Much more secure than my old crud road racers, and the quick release function is good for when it's not wet so you leave the brackets in place. Very tight with 25mm tyres with a tiny bit of rubbing on the guard which sticks forward of the front brake, but you don't really need that piece anyway. All in all the best for tight clearances and sturdiness.

4To install them it's a time taking for a 'not so handy' man like me, but manageable to my road bike. I have tested them in heavy rain, and I only got wet by rain directly, not by splashes from tires. I recommend them and they feel like a long-lasting product.

4Easy to fit to frame without mudguard eyes giving excellent protection for bike clothing and other riders. Two long damp/wet rides with no issues. Recommended for those riders who want to ride a race bike in all weather.

5These guards are just so sleek in the fitting to the road race type frame and wheels of 700 x 23c. When fitted, the wheels are not looking like they came off a tractor, in fact I did receive comments on how good they looked. They are much preferred to a wet bum, if there is any chance of rain I stick them on in 30 seconds! They actually do not weigh much, so that's great and for the price I am surprised at how well finished they look when fitted too. I just cannot say enough good things about this product.............so go ahead get a pair, DO NOT BE AFRAID!

4I bought these for a steel framed bike with fairly generous clearances and relaxed geometry. Very straight forward to fit even though the pictogram instructions are not amazingly clear. I had to let the back tyre down to get the rear mounts on and that was as tricky as it got. Once they were on very little adjusting was required and out on the road there was no rubbing so irritating that I had to dismount for a fettle. They do clatter a bit on rough surfaces perhaps more than permanently mounted guards. They keep the rain off your feet and backside as well as any guards I have had but because the back guard doesn't extend very far forwards from the rear brake mount lots of muck ends up on the front derailleur. The brakes also cop a little dirty spray because of the gaps the mounts create. They feel solid and very well made from quality materials.

4Good mudguard. Have a little patience when mounting them. Easier mounting would give 5 stars

5The best mudguards on the market for bikes with little clearance. Great protection in all conditions. I've tried all the others and they don't compare.

An extended version of SKS’s popular Raceblades, these 475g full-coverage chromoplastic guards have rigid steel stays with ingenious clips that let you tweak their position once they're fixed to the bike.
They come with Ikea-style instructions and are easy to fit, though not as simple as the short version. They clip into steel brackets that attach to your wheel quick-release skewers and brake callipers. The brackets keep tyre clearance requirement to a minimum – you've got a good chance of getting 25mm rubber in.
The Raceblade Longs keep your bum and feet dry, and the extra rear extension will make you popular on group rides. Taking them off for a sunny ride or bike cleaning is easy as they just unclip from their brackets.
The left-behind brackets in the quick releases look a bit odd though, and unlike regular Raceblades, fixing a puncture is a bit fiddly as you have to locate the brackets in your quick-release when you replace the wheel.
The Raceblades' design means they don’t keep spray out of your brakes. We’d also worry about the edges of the steel brackets digging into carbon forks – a bit of bending or lining with rubber might be a good idea.
Update
SKS have responded to our review by revising the Raceblade Longs' steel brackets – they're now angled rather than straight to avoid frame/fork clashes.
