What I expected
5Very good tape. A bit bulky but absorbs well impacts. I use them on my road bike and my cyclocross.

3Tried these on my bars for a season or so of riding. I did like the comfort they offered, especially when riding without gloves, however, I was not the biggest fan of the bulk they added to the bars. I will say that I fully anticipated the increased size underneath my tape, and if you are on board for that, you will likely enjoy these pads. Personally, I opted to go back to the feel of unpadded bars (with bartape on them of course).

5You have everything you need in this one little kit, the gel inserts are great for long rides or cyclocross races and as always the fizik tape stays looking clean and fresh no matter how long you have it on for.

3They are comfortable and easy to install but, after your tape is wrapped tight around it and months of hard riding and abuse the gel starts slipping and moves under the bar tape

4This is a great piece of kit... but yes it is pretty expensive. It does include a set of tape though as well. If you need more padding I would recommend this. Think the pads will last me ages too!

3The gel inserts are quite comfortable, and good if you like to ride gloveless and you have a desire to be able to feel your hands after a harsh ride. After a few months, though, the gel starts to crack everywhere making it nerve-wracking to remove for washing or when changing cables. If you stick them on and leave them, youll be fine. If you have to remove them, though, be careful! Might just tear one in half.

I had been using the Specialized handlebar gel and found that to be too soft and eventually the gel pad broke open causing gel to gradually ooze out from under the tape.
The Fizik gel pads are a significant improvement. The pads are fully customizable to fit your bars, with marks on the edges indicating where to cut. When I changed out my tape I found that the Fizik gel had moulded to the bars and did not require additional adjusting when re-taping. If you do need to take them off to switch handlebars they can be reused and work just as well. The pads are fairly firm and do not give a "squishy feel" to your grip.
