4iiii Power Meter

5

Well - what can I say, I bought this as a second meter, having already fitted a Stages single sided crank to my "main" roadbike... Of course, when you get used to riding with a power display, and use it for pacing, training etc. it's annoying to either have to keep swapping the cranks to the 'cross bike or riding without the information. So, I decided I wanted a second meter. And, having already had "issues" with water ingress on the Stages (that necessitated a replacment - though this was before the "new" mk2 enclosures - so i've still got one of the old square Stages units with the fragile battery door) I decided to try a different supplier - the 4iiii fitted the bill - cheaper than the Stages, and a friend had been running one of their cranks for a full Welsh Winter without it blowing up, so I thought "go for it" I've only had the unit a couple of weeks, but so far it's been fine - the power readings have been "sensible" compared to what I'd expect with the Stages - it's not had any wierd "spikes" in the readings, and of course, it went onto the bike simply and without any drama. I'll probably drop back in here and add a second review in a few months, as I'm borrowing a pair of powertap pedals for a couple of weeks while a friend is on family holday, which I'm hoping to use to a) see that the power readings compare directly between the 4iiii and the Stages and b) see if I have any major imbalance from Left/Right that the 4iiii can be used to compensate with - if that's the case, I'll probably sell the Stages on and get a second 4iiii unit...
