Maximum puncture protection for race machines! The Durano Plus has a SmartGuard belt for extremely effective protection against penetration punctures. The strong, highly elastic, special rubber layer is not as thick as in the Marathon Plus. Nevertheless it has a level of protection unparalleled in racing cycle tyres.

Key Features:

  • This is a 23/25mm folding clincher 700c tyre.
  • A clincher tyre will only fit on a clincher compatible rim.
  • Puncture resistance: SmartGuard Puncture Protection.
  • Min/Max pressure: 87/116psi (145psi - 25mm).
  • Intended use: Racing.
  • Weight: 347/376g (PBK Office Scales).

Please note: tyres, including tubulars are covered for warranty against manufacturing defects only.

Damage caused by incorrect fitting, debris, solvents, UV damage, or wear and tear are not covered.

While puncture protection increases the tyre's protection against punctures the likelihood of puncturing is merely reduced, there is still a possibility of puncturing and no tyre is 'puncture proof'.

The toughest tyre available

The toughest tyre available that won’t turn your road bike into a tank. The sidewalls are pretty hard to cut too. You’d expect a tyre with this level of imperviousness to roll dismally slowly or scrabble for grip like a solid tyre. Not so. In our tests it was mid-pack.

Durable but not fast.....

Definitely a great tyre when you're worried about punctures, or if you're heading out for a long ride. I have to say though, I've lost at least 2-4kph on my average since replacing my Dunlops with the Schwalbes. Maybe I just need to work my legs harder :-/

The toughest tyre available that won’t turn your road bike into a tank

The Durano Plus has a belt of protective Smartguard rubber under the tread, as used in Schwalbe’s virtually impregnable Marathon Plus touring tyre. This is why the tyre is so heavy, why it’s such a pig to fit (we had to use toe-straps to grapple it on), and also why it shrugs off sharps like a solid rubber ball.

The sidewalls are pretty hard to cut too. You’d expect a tyre with this level of imperviousness to roll dismally slowly or scrabble for grip like a solid tyre. Not so. In our tests it was mid-pack. Our experiences with Marathon Pluses suggest its mileage should be excellent too.

Awesome tyre

I have trained on these and couriered on them...awesome puncture resistance and not slow rolling like an armadillo or a conti gator hardshell. I ride them at around 95-100 psi for a bit more grip.

reliability!

Great for long solo rides where you don't care about speed. I have had 2 pairs of these and never had a puncture (3000km done). The type of tyres where you happily leave your pump and tube behind.

no more carrying a spare

Been riding these on horrid NZ roads, gravel, glas, you name. After 9 mths use at 300km a week, have clocked over 10,000km. Front looks great, back has flattened out. Not even thinking about changing to new tyres.

Great Tyres

Fantastic tyres, put them on my daily commute road bike and yer to have a flat in over 200kms - best tyres for this use to date.

An Excellent Trainer

The Durano Plus is marketed as a super flat resistant, durable training tire. For the most part the Durano Plus hits its mark well. The wear is not the 10,000k that Schwalbe claims, but it will go 5000-7000k before flattening out and compromising performance; but, even with the flattened tread it will still go another 2000-3000k before being completely useless.

The tires are insanely flat resistant, but they are not quite as flat proof as the Schwalbe Marathon Plus, which really is flat proof. Wet road traction is moderately good, weight is reasonable considering the resistance to flats and durability. My personal preference is the Marathon Plus to sacrifice weight and ride quality for unparalleled flat protection and long life.

If you want a tire with long life that is not too heavy, has reasonably good traction, and great flat resistance the Durano Plus is the clear winner.

durable, tough, recommended

hardly a knick in over 5000km
lots of glass around in Perth these days - no punctures
good all rounder
