Designed with the legendary Black Chili rubber compound, the Continental Grand Prix 5000 road bike tire boasts a 10-gram weight reduction in a 25c width, a 12% reduction in rolling resistance and a 20% increase in durability compared with its predecessor. Thanks to the proprietary Laser Grip Technology which creates a micro tread pattern that expands over the shoulder of the tire, the GP5000 also offers increased all-weather grip, giving you the ability to take even the most technical corners at speed. As a clincher tire, the Grand Prix 5000 is also incredibly practical and easy to service at roadside too.

Continental believes a comfortable tire is a fast tire - which is why the GP5000 now comes in a 32mm width and is constructed with Active Comfort Technology to help smooth the sharpest shocks from the roughest roads. Lined with the tear-resistant but ultra-lightweight Vectran fibers, the GP5000 sets new standards for puncture protection in road race tires. So, whether you're training in a downpour or racing in the sunshine, you'll have complete confidence that your tire out-performs the competition in every category and in all possible conditions

Road Tyres

Bought another Continental GP 5000 25mm Black clincher tyre to replace the same. Usually buy a twin pack. Preferred the GP 4000's until they were discontinued. Have been using Continental GP's for years. Have worn out 3 in the past year doing 11,300kms on NZ roads.

Conti's

Awesome service from Probike kit and of course 1st class tyres

Mr

Thought I was buying 6 tires but order somehow got duplicated Call but was told order was in cue and once received we could try to work it out Not to pleased But I have used them many other times and every thing was perfect

Tyre of Choice return buyer

I ride these tyres on gravel and road in Victoria Yarra valley. Not great roads. 4000 kms two punctures. 88-90psi in the rear 83-85 psi in the front. Great grippy fast tyres. Can’t understand while people are having troubles with blown sidewalls. Maybe they are over inflating them.

Very good and reliable

Happy with these tires. About 4000 km with them. Never had issues putting them on (I had at least three flats, all repaired at the spot (some in rain and cold)), despite others' suggestions to the contrary. I am getting a new set for the next season.

Conti GP 5000 Clincher

I have 2000 miles on two (different) bikes with these and no issues. Handling is sticky, predictable and fantastic. Not that you can expect to get away with anything stupid on these or other road tires. I have been known to do short gravel stretches (when needed) without incident as well. Very satisfied customer.

Too small!!!

So ridiculous how these are so difficult to get on a standard 700c 23-25 wheel. Should've listened to the other reviews. So regret buying these.

This tyres reputation speaks for itself

Fitted to my race wheels for a long distance Triathlon. Installation was hassle free and the tyre has not faltered. Yes there are more aero options out there (but not many), but not with the same reliability, durability and robustness as the GP5000. Check out AeroCoach for his Wind tunnel data on Tyres. Great read and very informative around tyre options and aerodynamics

Continental GP 5000

My wife blew out a front sidewall on her GP 4000's so I replaced both tires with GP 5000's, 1530 km later another blown front sidewall. Have been buying Continentals for years, may be rethinking that.

How to fit these

Excellent tyres. I see a bit of griping about how to fit them. When fitting them as new: unwrap the tyre and soak it in near boiling water for 20 mins then stretch the tyre by standing on one edge and pulling up. Still tight to fit but not stupidly so - as they are when new and cold. After a couple of 100 miles they stretch a little and become easier to change. Just try not to puncture for 200 miles...😄
