The Grand Prix 4000S II boasts global appeal as the best all round race bike tyre on the market. Not only is it fast and super grippy, thanks to its state of the art BlackChili rubber compound, but it is also tough with a healthy tread layer and of course Continental's Vectran anti puncture breaker layer underneath. So for reliability, longevity and all out performance for your race machine, the GP 4000S II is the only choice.
How are these figures possible? The carbon filler particles within the rubber compound are reduced to 1/10th of the size of standard carbon particles. This creates a closer knit with the particles having more points of contact with each other, thus forming a tighter bond, (increasing mileage performance) and also with the road (increasing grip). Also the way in which the particles interact with each other has a dramatic effect on reducing rolling resistance. Black Chili is used by several ProTour and Continental teams as shown opposite.
The all new Vectran breaker belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet.

I became a believer in the GP 4000S several years ago after putting a pair on my bike. Traction is very good and the ride is excellent. Although I have moved on to tubeless for our two bikes, I have installed these on three friends bikes which are not compatible with tubeless tires. These are not the most durable tires out there, but they ride so well they’re well worth it.
Excellent tires! Hugs the road and great on gravel. Road the tires in one of the gravel roads in Las Vegas, NV and managed to ripped through with no flats. Make sure to install the tires in the recommended direction and no more than 120 psi. I always buy my tires from ProBike since they have excellent prices in almost all products.
great tires.....been riding them for years.....supposed to be better road holding in wet weather, but have not had the chance to try them out in wet conditions yet....otherwise still great tire and at a very good price....
Great products at great prices and special offers. Fast shipping also helps a lot when you need things in a hurry.
I love these tyres - long wearing, grip well, excellent puncture resistance and fast! What more could you want?
I replaced my stock Bontrager Race 700x23 tyres with the Grand Prix 4000S II in 25mm. The ride is supple and they handle like a dream. Highly recommend!
These are the best road tires I've owned. Long lasting at an excellent price.
I used several other brands, and ended up sticking with the CGP 4000IIs. Better roll with good puncture resistance especially riding in Seattle, Washington. Tire is durable enough to withstand harsh road debris. Smoother ride for my annual double century and several centuries events ride; never disappointed.
Changing from Continental Ultras to the Continental gp4000s I have gained 4.2 miles an hour.
Really like these tires, light, fast, good road feel, but why does every one that I've ever had, start to have a thread delaminate around the circumference of the tire above the rim? as far as I know, it's not a structural problem but I've had to cut multiple rubber threads as they've peeled off the sidewall. End result is I change out tires before the tread is used up
