Expensive but worth it!!

The title says it all. Bought one of these or its prior model 8-9 years ago. Use it a couple of times a year and, roughly speaking, have probably paid for it, and then some, by what I saved in taking wheels to the shop for truing. Overkill for home? Maybe, but if you think you have a couple of bikes and you take the longer view you will easily break even on the spend a few years down the road. Even faster if you have lots of bikes. Also, you get the pride of knowing your wheels are perfect! I am now a man of a certain age and have learned that buying / investing in one good tool (chef knife, hammer, drill, guitar, etc.), instead of a cheaper version, is far less frustrating and, in the long run, does better work and is a joy to use. Since I am highly recommending this I will add that you should also consider purchasing the Park Tool TSB-2 Truing Stand Base from PBK as well. This makes the stand that much easier to use. Hope this helps.

Park truing stand

Expensive, but you get what you pay for. There are lots of options when it comes to truing wheels, but this stand is able to last a lifetime in a pro bike shop, so will easily last for the home mechanic. It's the standard all others are measured by. It makes you want to true wheels, smooth and precise. I have worked in several shops, some with average stands and a few with a Park stand. The Park stand just works.

Solid Truing Stand

This stand is solid, heavier than I expected when it arrived. That in itself isn't bad as the weight contributed to it being a stable platform expecially when truing larger and heavier mountainbike wheels which I also have. Recommend to marry this stand with the optional Truing Stand Base which would prevent it tipping over. In terms of accuracy, it's second to none as I found that the caliper arms is perfectly able to gauge lateral and radial truing accurately. While you need to have other companion tools like the Wheel Dishing Gauge and Tension Meter to properly maintain your wheels, having this stand is a must to even start with. The only niggle I had was it was way out of alignment despite it being said to be factory calibrated (according to the manual). I was lucky to have the Centering Gauge which was optional and got it calibrated easily.

Park Tool TS 2.2 Professional Wheel Truing Stand

If you pay top dollar for an item you expect to get a top item. Park delivers with their latest iteration of the professional series truing stand. Everything works as it was intended to and every professional wheelbuilder, and us amateurs too, will find a tool that does what it is supposed to do.

Quality

An expensive purchase but probably the best stand out there and worth the expense, I taught myself to build wheels on it without buying the base, but have since got it on discount and it does make it nicer to use but not essential.

Park Truing Stand

Really quick delivery and a great price. Despite searching the net for a better deal (UK and European sites) this was the best price I could find. I live north of Aberdeen (UK) and it arrived two days after the order was placed - very impressive! The product is of typical Park quality as you would expect... It was my first order with Probikekit but I will use them again. Very good service.

Big and heavy but effective

I'd ummed and arred for a while over truing stands as the cheaper ones always seemed to get mixed reviews. The combination of a £40 truing quote and a decent price on PBK made me pick this up. The TS-2.2 is big, heavy and does one thing very well. Despite the flashy chrome finish the stand doesn't strike me as a particularly refined tool. It looks like a collection box steel welded together but in use it's very effective, allowing the precise adjustment necessary for truing. I also bought the TSB-2 tilting base which is absolutely necessary unless you plan to bolt-down the stand, or clamp it in a vice. I still need to buy an adapter to fit my MTB's 20mm thru-axle. It's annoying having to purchase these ancillaries given the price of the stand. The callipers can be used to check dishing, if calibrated. This requires either a perfectly dished wheel or, you guessed it, an expensive accessory... Ultimately I now have a sturdy, professional setup that allows me to precisely true my wheels with ease, and without any down-time while my wheels are in the shop. Yes there's room for improvement, but it's probably the best truing stand available south of £1000.
