Great for taking away some road buzz

Having tried other types of gel insert, the way these were presented (as nicely moulded pieces) made me give them a try. I have some hand nerve issues with large hands, making me sensitive to shape of bars and lever placement with Campy Ergopower levers and the 'big hand' inserts. The Presa inserts don't interfere with how I like my bars (3t ErgoSum PRO which have round section tops) to feel on the tops and at the hoods, which is where I place my hands for 90% of the riding I do around northern Kent's tortuous farm lanes. I don't use the short straight sections on the drops, because I would rather have direct hand contact (with regular gloves and a gel strip cork tape or Caz Supercush depending on the bike) if I'm plunging down a steep descent. Instead, I used them on the 'corners' behind the levers but towards the front of the bar on a set of Deda 35 carbon bars fitted to another bike, where most of the top section is exposed, having a constant 35mm diameter that doesn't need padding to feel good in the hands. Retaping the bars (I use inexpensive white 'cork' tape on my regular bike, even though it gets dirty easily and needs replacing every couple of months) has not been an issue for the inserts, which simply get reused. Overall I think these are an excellent product that was well thought out. While I partially don't use them as intended (no short section on the drops), they serve the purpose well where I do, making them more useful and potentially a better deal than first thought (two bikes with one set). When it's time to give the main bike a proper 'refresh' for next Spring, I'll replace the Presa with a new set.
