The Thomson X4 is stronger and 30g lighter than the Thomson Elite 25.4mm mountain stem. It features a traditional steerer clamp that is shaped to save weight and to be knee friendly. X4 is absolutely the best combination of strength and weight available. Thomson stems are the strongest in the industry, meaning enduro and downhill riders can run Thomson confidently.
The stem is one piece of solid 7000 series Aluminium extruded billet precision, machined by Thomson in Macon, Georgia. It’s built and tested to the same standards as aerospace parts and it’s the best stem for all-around mountain bike and cyclocross riding.

Thomson quality 👌
What more can you expect from a Thomson product.... Top quality as always, have many of there items over the years on various custom steel builds I've done and they never fail to look great! Lightweight, easy to fit and great packaging. The only thing I'd mention when buying the stem, is check your geometry of frame vs the degree of the stem. For example, I have a relaxed frame, and ordered a 0 degree stem which only increases the 'sit up/relaxed' position, so go either-10 if you're building a 'race' geometry build and want to be lower at the front end. Anyway, definitely recommend this product and any other Thomson bits!
