New Super SLR Design relocates the brake lever pivot for better mechanical advantage. Synchronised with the new brake arch pivot a greater level of modulation and power are available from the tops of the brake hoods, where most people ride a majority of the time.
Internal Cable routing gives lighter steering action and a cleaner handlebar area while fit can be customised through a series of shims creating reach adjustment. Two sizes of shims reduce reach by 5mm or 10mm for maximum comfort and control. The new 105 levers are compatible with Ultegra 6700 and Dura-Ace 7900 brake arches.

I purchased the Shimano 105 5800 Silver levers because they were the only option available in silver, and I felt that fit the aesthetic of the bike best. The levers shift well and operate smoothly with low effort. Front shifting is particularly good, once set up, it’s nailed every time. If I have a criticism, it is that shift feedback is a little vague. Well worth the money.
