Product Overview

Digital Integrated Intelligence.

The eagerly awaited Shimano Di2 (Digital Integrated Intelligence) is here. Evolution never stops - This new technology brings shifting to a new level.

It gives you a swift, definite shift every time and in every situation, for all riding styles and terrain.

Key Features:

  • Dura-Ace Di2 7970 Front Derailleur - Double - Braze on.
  • The difference in the effort and time taken for front shifts between Dura-Ace mechanical and Di2 is truly staggering.
  • The biggest difference you will notice is just how much quicker and effortlessly smoother shifting on the front chainrings is, even under load.
  • Removal of traditional mechanical cables in favour of electrical wires not only eliminates poor shifting caused by contaminants, corrosion and stretching, but provides effortless gear shifts.
  • The front derailleur also trims automatically; the cage moves in response to the position of the rear derailleur on the cassette to ensure no chain rub and a quiet unobtrusive ride, enabling you to concentrate on the road ahead.
  • High tolerance cold forged aluminium and composite construction.
  • Braze-on fit as standard; if your bike does not have a braze-on mount seat tube adapters are available.
  • High tolerance cold forged aluminium link plates and body construction is extremely light and durable.
  • Weight: 124g (Manufacturer claimed).

Almost perfection - Review by Duncan

Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 FD-7970 Bicycle Front Derailleur - 10 Speed - Love Di2...but - Love Di2...and this unit is probably the best part of it all...front mech shifting has never been better. The only reason why not 5 stars are. The setup is finicky...and none of the online videos or manuals will help in any meaningful way. You'll need to base screw plate only if you braze on mount is bolted on facing the front of the seat tube. The nickel/chrome plate on the mech (like the 7900) flakes off way too easily...for a AUD$450 unit this is less than ideal quality control. Most likely a metallurgy issue with high carbon steel vs electroplating mixtures. Almost no frames will allow, or even allow (with a drill) to get the cable to internally route...a pity as this is the area the cable has to interface with the nasty chain/chainring combo!
