Product Overview

Zipp's Tangente pads outperform all other carbon-specific pads in all conditions. In response to the intense heat caused by braking on carbon, Zipp developed the Tangente High Performance Cork Brake Pad. CNC machined from a unique composite material, the Tangente pad combines the stopping performance and durability of a synthetic polymer with the heat resistance and smooth feel of cork.

As a result, the Tangente pad avoids the brake pulsation produced by residue build up from rubber pads and can even eliminate pulsation from rims with previous build up.

I switched to these pads to use with my carbon Zipp rims when I got Ciamillo GSL (Campy format pad holders) brakes on a new bike.

Previously, I used Swissstop Yellow Kings on those rims. The Zipp corks stop the bike better, fade less when hot, pulse less, and leave no pulse-inducing and performance-degrading residue on the rims. So far, they've lasted 2,000 miles with plenty of apparent wear left.

It's more a compliment to the brakeset than the pads, but the screwless "slide out" Campy format makes cleaning or changing pads far easier than Shimano.

The lost fifth star is because they're just so darn expensive, even compared to Swissstops. But they seem like cheap insurance during a descent.
