Solid seatpost collar that does it's job well! - Review by MuZI

After stripping the bolt threads on my previous collar during a ride I decided to get a better collar. Having owned Thomson seatposts and stems in the past I was already familiar with their outstanding quality their products offer.

I've been using the collar for about a week and it is doing it's job pretty well. I ended up purchasing a beam torque wrench since the recommended torque of 2.8Nm (25 inch pounds). Compared to my previous collar which required 5Nm this isn't very much.

When choosing a new collar don't just pick a size slightly larger than the seatpost diameter. You have to measure the outer diameter of the seat tube since some frames are different. My seatpost was 31.6 so I purchased the 34.9

Cosmetically the collar looks amazing.

The only thing I don't like about the collar is the "nut" is inserted from the bottom of the collar so if you unscrew the bolt all the way out it will fall out. I don't know why they didn't put the hole for the nut on the top.

If it is made by thompson it will always be good - Review by Jason

Everything these guys is made to be better than it needs to be.

Like Chris King, they over do it. It means that they just feel good.

Same goes for the seatposts and stems. Just really well machined and will last as long as any bike.

Beautifully machined - Review by Paul

As with all Thomson products, machining work is really impressive. It doesn't take an engineer to realize this is a high quality product. Beautifully carved complex surfaces..
