AG2R La Mondiale

At the start of 2012, Vincent Lavenu celebrated twenty uninterrupted years of his professional team's existence. As the oldest of the French teams, it has had three main sponsors: Chazal, Casino and Ag2r. It boasts seventeen participations in the Tour de France, which it has not missed since 1997, with varying fortunes, from the disgrace of its leaders (Rodolfo Massi in 1998 and Francisco Mancebo in 2006) to the eight-day adventure in yellow of Rinaldo Nocentini in 2009.

Founded and based since its beginnings in Chambéry, the team from Savoy has stood out thanks to its local produce, either born in the Rhône-Alpes region such as Sylvain Calzati, a stage winner at Lorient in 2006, or Cyril Dessel, a Yellow Jersey wearer and 6th in the overall general classification during the same year (the best result achieved by one of Lavenu's riders), or trained by the team, like Estonian Jaan Kirsipuu, loyal to Lavenu from 1992 to 2004, who won four stages and wore yellow for six days in 1999.

AG2R La Mondiale regularly achieves winning moves on the Tour de France, with the latest in the form of recruiting mountain-biking Olympic vice-champion Jean-Christophe Péraud, 10th on his first participation in the Big Loop in 2011, at 34 years old, and 2nd on the stage that finished at Annonay Davézieux in 2012. It also boasts one of the leading emerging French riders in its ranks: Romain Bardet.
