The Breva Crystal benefits from the Spada’s excellent crystal hubs and at an incredible weight of 1350g per pair they are equally at home when the rod points uphill. The wheels are built around the amazing 'Cristallo' hubs that tip the scales at 54g front and 180g rear! Spada Breva Crystal Wheelset
Bought these a few months back - run them with Shimano Ultegra 10 speed groupset (spacer needed) and Vittoria CX Open Pro (320tpi) clinchers. The above review is correct, the transfer decals are rubbish so I peeled them off immediately. Having said that, they look far better without - i.e. stealth mode deep black rims with red nipples & skewers look the biz. I bought these as replacements for standard Mavic Aksium wheelset and the difference in weight is stunning. The difference in ride and handling is equally as stunning (not sure if this is due to the wheels, the tyres or both). The hubs are superb, ultra slim and run forever (I think they look a bit retro and like that). Initially, I was concerned as the wheels look a bit flimsy (and I weigh 190lbs) - they do suffer a bit of flexing when out of the saddle and climbing hard (i.e. brake rub) but they never go out of true and I have given them some very serious abuse over the last few weeks. They are slightly aero and so run great on the flat too (but scarily silent so watch the pedestrians). They should get a 5 but I am being very pedantic about the decals. Not sure if I will run them through the winter (alu nipples, etc.) but ideal for summer, club and race use. Oh - finally, getting new Vittorias on the rims was VERY hard first time. Not sure if this was the rims or the Vittorias but I would suggest warming the rubber first and try not to get frustrated and scratch the rims!!!
Spada Breva
Super light wheels, well built. Raced with Fortezza Tricomps and 10 speed Shimano. They need a spacer from an old cassette to fit perfectly. Great wheelset spoilt by cheap stick on transfers. Otherwise would have had 5 stars.
