These tires (or tyres for you folks on the other side of the pond) are the ultimate in comfort and safety. Combined with Vittoria's latex inner tubes, they provide a comfortable, supple and safe ride. These tires are equally at home on long straightaways, long climbs or fast descents. Some people have complained about their alleged lack of durability. I say: nonsense. These tires last me as long, or even longer as the Michelins I previously used. Great tire, highly recommended. BTW, the price at PBK is amazing; the same tires at my LBS, are priced at twice the price. So at PBK I can buy two of these tires for the price of one tire at the LBS. I am all in favor of supporting the LBS, but at twice the price, there is no way that I would buy these tires locally--I just couldn't afford them.
I like these tires very much. I have been using them for years and get a season, or more out of a pair. I ride them on all my road bikes, including one tandem (maxed-out at 65+ mph). The color selection allows me to match with the colors of both my wife's bikes and my stable. 3 days/week we have a coasting/aero position contest on a favorite down-hill. We are always at the front of the pack and roll a good 100 yards further than the pack.
Smooth ride and puncture resistant, what more can you ask for in a tire? I have tried multiple tires, Conti's, Michelin's and others, but keep coming back to tried and true Vittoria's. The only con I can think of is they do tend to wear quicker than some of the other tires I have used, but wear mileage is about average when compared to others. I am a bit disappointed the newer version of the tire are colored on the sidewall, as opposed to the tread on the old versions, but they still look sharp. I would highly recommend these tires as a do it all training and racing tire.
A good balance of characteristics. My all-purpose go-to tire. They are best pared with latex tubes.
The tires are fast and soft to ride on. Are they faster then the Conti GP4000s.? Jury is still out on that one. Rolling resistance is very low. For the price, it's an expensive purchase because they don't last that long. If you are into TT racing on a weekend basis, these will get you through the season. The downside of these tires are that they wear very fast and cut easier then any tire I have used. Probikekit actually replaced a set that just got cut to shreds in my first few rides. The second set is holding up well but it's always in the back of my mind that if I hit any type of roc, glass, pebble, that my tires will cut or worse yet, get a flat.
I've raced on vittoria open corsa cx 23mm clinchers for many years. They are definitely not the most durable tires, but the supple feel makes up for it. I recently upgraded to a new set of wide profile carbon clinchers wheels which are designed for 25mm tires so I made the switch. They are even better than the 23s!!! great traction, stable ride, softer feel, with no sense of being slower. They inspire confidence in cornering during crits. Great on dirt, gravel, or uneven pave. If you want a set of bomb-proof tires that you can ride through broken glass in the gutters- this is not the tire for you. Many of my teammates ride Conti GP4000s. To me, they feel like wooden wagon wheels. If you want amazing road feel, with confident traction on smooth or rough pavement there is no better (IMO). Cheers!
I love these tires and PBK's price beat the rest. Thanks again.
I love these tires. I used to race on the tubular version of this tire. Loved the ride, supple and smooth. The clincher version is my favorite tire of all. They are super light and fast. You can't beat the 320pti casing for great road feel. Their lifespan seems to be about that of similar tires, but not as long as the Contis I have ridden. Given the choice though, I would rather ride the Open Corsas every time for a light fast perfect feel.
I normally run Michelin Pro4 Service Course. These tires were on sale, so I tried them out. They are smoother and more tacky. It's too early to weigh in on durability. I'd buy them again.
These tires are fast, comfortable, light and durable. The 320 tpi count makes the tire very supple and good for cornering. Using these tires with latex inner tubes is like using tubulars. Cheers!
So far so good. These tires are as close as you can get to sew-ups. . I have approx. 500 miles on them and could not be happier.
Light, roll very well, easy to install
No complaints but I only have a few hundred miles on the 2013 Vittoria Open Corsa CX Clincher Road Tyre. The delivery took a little longer than I had hoped but I do live in the states so it's understandable. I will update after 800 more miles.
I've been riding the 2013 Vittoria Open Corsa CX Clincher Road Tire 25's in summer for the last few years. The tire corners well and is very comfy. I went down on a 90 degree turn at low speed because I didn't know I had a flat on the front tire. That was a first in over 28 years of consistent riding.
Vittoria is on record as saying that these tires are for racers and professionals and that mere avid cyclists like me should use one of their less expensive tires. This tire has the attributes associated with a high-end tire one would expect. Grippy on the road, excellent cornering. Smooth riding on rough roads. Decent endurance. An important reason I consistently use these is for safety. Because of the 320 tpi, they retain some riding ability even when flat. If I'm going slow, it can be hard to tell that I have a flat. I consider this an important safety feature because if I lose air in a tire during a fast descent, I want the tire to support my handling of the bike as well as possible, until I can come to a stop. The rated pressure for these tires is 115-140psi. If you like to run with lower pressures, you will need to up you pressures with these tires to avoid damaging the tires.
