Durano Plus

This tire are excellent for the cold and wet. Unlike other tires in this category they the rubber is supple enough so they are comfortable and not very slippery. #1 choice for the NW USA.

Why use anything else?

After a series of highly inconvenient flats right after getting my first road bike, I decided based on other reviews on the web to give these tyres a shot. 1000km later and I'm convinced. The tyre looks like it's still in new condition and doesn't have a discernable mark on it.

durano

excellent tyre ,all reviews are spot on.

Schwalbe Durano Plus

Great quality tyre, if like me you are sick of getting punctures, buy these tyres. The tyres are just a little heavier than my race tyres and rolling resistance can be felt, but this is a small price to pay for a puncture free ride.

Great puncture protection

I commute 20ks to the Melbourne CBD and have had many a puncture. I have ridden with these tyres for over a year with only one flat which was a large hand made nail. It didn't split the tyre despite the lage size so that only a change of tube was required. I don't get the km's as claimed and just replaced the rear tyre after about 2,500 kms as the blue protection strip was showing. Maybe I am heavy on the braking. I put them on my new Trek which is a lighter quicker bike than my last so I have not noticed the weight of the tyre. I try to avoid the wet but have been caught out a good dozen times in the rain and find they still grip quite well.

Probably a great tyre if it's defect-free

Bought a pair of these, they felt sluggish when I put them on but I'd been riding a different bike for a while so I wrote it off to new tyres that I needed to get used to. After 3 or 4 rides (~80km each ride), I noticed I was getting neck/back ache, headaches and prolonged pain after each ride. The Durano Plus I'd put on my front wheel has a defect in the form of a lump in the tyre that, with each rotation of the tyre, sent a vibration pulse up through the bike, my arms into my neck and back. It was only when riding on a perfectly smooth, new road surface that I realised the problem was with the bike (as it turns out, the tyre) and not dodgy road surface. I've ridden approx 300-400kms on the tyres. Local Bike Store has confirmed it's a defect in the tyre, my wheel/rims are fine.

Ignoring the defect for a moment, my overall response to the tyres is that they feel sluggish on the road and while the puncture resistance is probably very good, the Luganos, at half the price, were puncture resistant enough for me!

durable, tough, recommended

hardly a knick in over 5000km
lots of glass around in Perth these days - no punctures
good all rounder

Great Tyres

Fantastic tyres, put them on my daily commute road bike and yer to have a flat in over 200kms - best tyres for this use to date.

no more carrying a spare

Been riding these on horrid NZ roads, gravel, glas, you name. After 9 mths use at 300km a week, have clocked over 10,000km. Front looks great, back has flattened out. Not even thinking about changing to new tyres.

Tough, durable and rolls well; not far off the fastest

On the road the Durano belies its weight. Our roll-down tests put it it just behind the fast-for-a-training-tyre Continental Gatorskin and on a par with the tougher Gator Hardshell. It's just as resistant to sharps, and Smatguard rubber tends to eject anything embedded in it, so overall resistant should be better. Wear life looks promising and grip is fine.
