First off, these tires are smaller than the 23mm size stated. They are more like a 20-21mm. Having less material probably helps meet the great 165g weight spec. However, despite the smaller size, these tires grip in the corners VERY well. I have 50 miles of high speed winding mountain descending on these and they have inspired nothing but confidence. Of course they climb great because they are so low in weight. Flats could be an issue with the Limited model, as it does not have an anti-puncture layer. I have about 150 miles total so far on the pair, and I have had one flat on the rear already. A small sharp piece of rock embedded in the center of the tire. Otherwise, tires are smooth with no other cuts so far and seem to be holding up well. I am going to guess these will be average in flats, not great. Guessing they will be less than average in wear. In summary, they ride, feel, and perform excellent. If you are willing to give up some flat protection and longevity for a high performing tire, these are great. Just buy them on sale and change them for fresh tires more often. ;)
Excellent wear and handling, good for about 2,500 miles or more.
I had the pro 3 and they were excellent tires, the pro 4 were an improvement so I figured they had to be better
Have used Continentals for the past five years, made move to Michelins. Great sticky tires that hold the road well.
The Pro4's are incredible tires! They stick better than the Pro3's. They've been pretty durable as I've had mine for a little over a year. But several months ago I noticed cracks in the tire casing. Not really on the sidewalls but on the part where the rubber meets the road. And that makes me nervous! I used ShoeGoo to fill in the cracks as a temp fix but other cracks have formed. As I e researched this on the net I've found that it's a "common" occurrence. However I haven't seen anything that says Michelin has cures this issue. But I've continued to ride on these tires and they've held up so far. But I'll be getting new tires real soon. Just not sure if they'll be Pro4's until I hear that this issue has been corrected.
A fantastic tire for the value. Hugs corners and has a low rolling resistance making it a smooth ride that gives you the feeling of being on rails. I am very impressed with how these tires feel and ride.
I found this tyre to be excellent in puncture resistance, light weight and fast! With a TPI rating of 150 (some sources say less) I've eliminated having to patch or swap out the tube during training rides. I was rolling on a set of tyres that had a TPI rating of 50 but had flats almost each time I went out for a ride. Needless to say I got good at changing tyres and fixing flats but with the Pro 4 Comps I'm riding more.
True to the weight indicated, Wears almost as good as the Pro 4 tire. Grip and handling is excellent. Good in wet weather too.
Some of the best tires I have ever put on the pavement and at a great price from PBK.
This is my second set of Michelin tires. I am very pleased with the performance in the dry and wet. I live in Houston, TX and the weather here is warm and humid. The tire outperforms most products on the road, many people don't ride in the rain due to slips and falls. I have full confidence in these tires and don't miss a ride regardless of the weather. I recommend these tires to anyone who is looking for a set of grippy tires. I don't race and most of the rides I do are intermediate level. That doesn't mean I should settle for lesser tires. After all, the tires keep me safer by allowing me to manouver with confidence.
This tire is incredibly light weight and durable; it has fantastic lower rolling resistance and is noticeably faster than the Pro 4 Service Course; combined with the Panaracer R'air tube and carbon aero wheels (I use Zipp Firecrest 404s) and you get an extremely fast tire. Rear tire wear and puncture resistance is comparable to the Pro 4 Service Course.
The Michelin Pro 4 Comp Clincher Road Tyres roll very nice and do seem fast. I am running them with a wider clincher so they are very comfortable. I do think they are somewhat less durable then other Michelin's I have ridden, my rear tire is done after 2,000 miles with a big slit down the sidewall that I think was caused by rolling over a rock at low speed. I also sustained 1 other puncture on the rear, I am pretty lightweight and flats are pretty great for me. My recommendation is to use these on your race wheels, as an everyday tire. It's something more durable and may be a better choice given the price on these.
The Michelin Pro 4 Comp Clincher Road Tyre has been an excellent tyre to date. It provides good grip on hard turns and quick acceleration. It's the only tyre I had for a few weeks and I love it. I'm not sure about longevity, but the tire is surely fast.
