I have been riding these tires for years and they NEVER disappoint. Flatting has been virtually eliminated from my riding regimen. I basically ride these tires to the point where the tread is worn to oblivion. I personally don't have a single "con" when it comes to these tires. I hope the 4000S II's maintain the same standards!
Customer Service from Probikekit has been exceptional. My recent purchase of Continental Grand Prix 4000s tires arrived prior to the targeted delivery date. The prices of these tires is untouched by other on-line stores. I will do more business through Probikekit in the future. Randy
I am now on my third set of Continental GP 4000s. I did have an issue with a side wall on my first set, but I have learned that this is a weak spot and I am very careful not let the sidewall hit anything as I ride. Other than than they are great all around training and even racing (amateur) tires. They hold in wet and I feel confident enough to hit 45+ MPH on a downhill without a big worry of a blow out. I will keep buying this tire and will recommend it to cyclist in a semi-competitive range of riding.
These tires are wonderful! I am a larger frame male, 5'9" 220 lbs., living in Michigan and I have over 1000 miles on this set of tires and no flats. These tires wear well and corner great. I rotated the tires at 750 miles and look forward to rotating them before winter around 1500 miles. I purchased a pair that was made in Germany which is hand built. I have heard of people having problems with sidewalls giving out and I think they may have had a set from China which are not as good. The roads in Michigan can be in rough shape and these tires handled the potholes and uneven road surfaces well. The tires are very stable at high speeds. (52mph). I will buy another set when these wear out and I recommend these tires to all serious riders who enjoy ridding and don't want to worry about there tires durability.
Best tire for the money on the market.
Have used these tires and been very satisfied. today had a sidewall blowout on new tire. Found an oblique cut running nearly from rim to rim with blowout on sidewall. On inspection I found exactly same defect on the other tire. Don't know of running over anything. Suspect that may have happend but wonder if anybody has had similar problem?
Been using these tires for years - I truly believe they're the best, and Probikekit sells them at a great price!
The 4000s is the tire to use if you absolutely want to have the least chance of flatting during an important ride (e.g., race day, out in the boonies, etc). That said, you do give up some things for that reliability: long break in period (1000+ miles), harsher than other race tires even after break in, and decreased road feel. In the first few hundred miles they're absolutely brutal, feeling like solid rubber tires. They last a long time. At at 3500 miles on my last set the wear indicators still showed a lot of remaining tread life, and they had no cracks or deep cuts.
Great Tire, fast, corners well. It holds up well for the most part, but not good for roads with lots of debris. With PBK prices you can't go wrong.
I have been using them for years. Prices are great and so are the products. Would highly recommend.
My long time 'go to' tires have been Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks. They are good all arounders. The GP 4000S are lighter, faster, more supple and grip the road better. They are superior to anything I've used. The price for a two pack could not be beat which was the cherry on an already tasty cake.
I have been using these tires for many years (8000 miles per year). I find they ride better the tires I have used in the past and they are very durable and resistant to flats.
I love these tires, but I've had numerous sidewall failures. I would guess that I've used about 15 of these tires (maybe more) and about 1 out of 5 have detrimental sidewall blowout failures. Like other people, I'll buy enough to last me a few years when they go on sale and the currency exchange rate is favorable and they tend to last quite a while. When they fail though, it's within 25 - 50 miles of being installed. I'm not sure if the 4000s II's address this issue and I'll be curious to see how they fair. Yes, I've checked the rims for nicks, etc. and there's nothing wrong with the rims, install, etc.
Love this tire. It's smooth, corners like it's on rails and wears well. I usually buy several at a time from Probikekit. Great price!
These are the only tires I buy. They last plenty long enough for most riders. They are stable in the corners and everywhere else. They are the only tire I have used that feels reassuring while cornering, instead of skittish. I can't recommend these any more highly.
I have tried a number of tires and have never found any more reliable than the Conti4000S. Clearly, the best tire...No doubt!! I ride in some pretty shoddy roads in South Texas and these tires have proven themselves to perform above other brands.
best all-around tire. all riders in my group ride with this. basically we are weekend warriors, club riders ... and do a few centuries, week-long tours. best price-performance. grips very well and good treadwear
I've tried all the top brands, but the one I keep coming back to is the tried and true Conti GP 4000S. It provides great road feel, excellent handling and cornering, and a long, sturdy life expectancy. Everything you want from your tires.
Tires grab, ride great and feel fast. Great price and fast shippin.
Continental GP tires are the best. I am a large rider (240 lbs.), and these are the only tires I can count on for thousands of miles of flat-free biking. If you are not a skinny Euro-pro type, these are your tires.
Perfect riding tires, highly recommended
These tires are the best. Great grip and fairly light. Best of all, way less flats then traditional tires.
So, I got these tires because when I was looking for something new, pretty much every review I could find suggested going with the GP4000s and PBK has an awesome price on them. I only have about 100 miles on them, so I can't speak for durability, but in terms of ride there are a few things worth noting. 1) the grip is exactly what I expected, I feel like I'm carving into the concrete when I turn hard. It's quite the impressive feeling. 2) The tires were very well manufactured, they are very consistent. The only issue is that there was a lot of leftover from the molds, but that's wearing off now. 3) The ride/feel of them is better than other tires I've tried (zafforia's and hutchison mainly) they roll really well at 120psi and offer a somewhat smoother ride at the same pressures/sizes. 4) They were *very* tight to install, but they definitely won't be pulling out by accident. I realize the kevlar bead is 90% of this, but they could use to have just a bit more stretch. 5) I can tell that they are lighter than my last tires, and the feeling is great. Totally worth the expense just for that. All-in-all I'll be buying another set later in the year when I get these worn down enough.
The Continental Grand Prix 4000S is one the best tires I've ridden for year round conditions in Colorado. Lightweight and solid construction give it a superior ride performance that minimizes road chatter and keeps you going for those all day adventures. Long lasting mileage make them my tire choice for past several years and PBK offers the best pricing I've come across!
I have used 23mm Continental 4000S Black Chili tyres for almost three years. I can get 6500km of tread wear from these tyres. This is a combination of 4000km on the front and 2500km on the rear. However, I find that life of this tyre is more often governed by sidewall integrity, than by tread life. Over half the time I have changed out the tyre due to sidewall slits rather than worn tread. Other cyclists I know say the same thing. Nevertheless, all things considered, these tyres are the best value, considering overall life, ride comfort, and price.
These are the only tires I will ride. I am stocking up on these at this price. I use a set per summer and ride an average of 2000 miles without any problems. If they make a better tire I haven't found it for the $.
They have the best price for this ttre (online or local). Reasonable shipping (2 tyres got me to free/racked shippingw). The package arrived promptly and I'm enjoying the new tyres. I plan to shop first for all my cycling needs.
It's difficult to "not" use the Continental GP 4000s clincher road tires reason being, they work well in any weather. Using these tires for 4 seasons has been nothing short the best tires available. They wear slowly and you're able to vary the tire pressure which makes the ride better.
This is a very good tyre that is durable enough to train on, yet still light enough to race on. Coupled with a good price it is my standard tyre and I keep several in stock.
This is my 3rd pair of 4000s. I went the last 8 months riding on gatorskins . Race season started so I switched to 4000s. The first ride was amazing. I can feel how much faster they roll. The second ride I went up to the mountains. On the descent it was night and day compare to other tires. The grip on the turns was too good to be true. I carried as much speed into the turns and never used my brakes. I just leaned the bike and it went right where I wanted it to. the feeling of security when I ride on 4000s is mind blowing. And you get all this $80 a pair. Amazing.
This is the best training/racing tire available.
After many years trying every kind of tire I discovered the continental GP 4000. What a great discovery, long wearing, positive feeling tire. I would recommend them to anyone.
Have run several different tyres for both training and racing, and I will continue to choose the 4000s, until Conti comes up with something better than the BlackChiliComp.
I ride over 12,000 miles a year over pretty rough terrain so I have cycled through quite a few tires brands. By far, my favorites are the Conti GP 4000S tires.. I have yet to have one give out prematurely. The tires grip well and have some of the best rolling resistance numbers out there. I think puncture resistance is better than most and I ride them all year long for both commuting and racing. The tires come with wear markers are I find these are helpful indicators of when to replace them. It's also important to note that these are directional tires and because the arrows are hard to see, the easiest way to orient them is to look at the imprinted geometries. The shallower slope of the opposing triangles should face forward. When I can find them, I opt for the 25 mm versions. They have better rolling resistance and with the added air volume, I like having a bit more time to react in the event of a flat. If you're concerned about aero effects, one option is to run 23's in the front and 25's in the back.
The tires are great and the price was fantastic. What more could you want.
These are the best tire available. Tough, trouble free and at a great price. These provide 1000's of trouble free miles. Thanks Probikekit.com for the great price and service
Great high quality road tire, been using them for years and this is a great price!
Excellent tire, light, long lasting, good road grip. Tremendous value and smooth transaction!!
Excellent tires. Maybe the best on the market. Excellent value as well
I have been using the continental GP 4000S tires for the last few seasons. I have had excellent performance from the tires and they have been very dependable.
Excellent tire, handles well , good tread life. My go to tire.
Very simply, the highest quality tires available. They wear exceptionally well, maintain their tread and rarely if ever flat which also makes them overall very economical when compared to other tires. No reason to use any other tire for recreational riding or even racing.
These tires are fast and feel great. A little bit soft for me to use as a rear tire since I am over 200 pounds. I rather use a 4 seasons or gator skin for the rear due to my weight.
These Continental Grand Prix 4000S tyres are really good value for the money. They may not be the cheapest bike tyre on the market, however they wear incredibly well, are long lasting and quite puncture resistant. Don't leave home without them......
Excellent transaction. Excellent delivery!
I have been riding "Contis" for a number of years on my road bikes and decided to branch out and try some other top brands. After seeing some nice things (supple road feel), some bad things (tires that flat if you look at them too long), I came back to GP4000s as my go to training and racing tires. I think in terms of balance of positive attributes of rolling resistance, weight, durability, and performance, these are my currenr favorite performance road clinchers on the market.
I have been using these tires for 3 seasons now, and see no reason to consider another brand or model. They do exactly what they are supposed to do, stick without feeling mushy. No worries on inflation, I inflate them to 95-115 on my Mavic wheels and 85-100 on my Hed wheels. Excellent treadwear (indicators can be checked for quick reference) and very resistant sidewalls. I stock up whenever they are on sale!
I've used these tires for several years now. They have great traction, wear very well and are somewhat puncture resistant. I've tried differnt tires and keep coming back to these not fancy and promoting themselves as something special just a good solid tire for both racing and training.
Conti's GP 4000S Clinchers are probably the best balance of durability, grip, weight, and speed of any tyre available.
After 3,000 miles I finally got a flat. Not surprised since my Conti. GP 3K's also got about the same mileage before being retired. No pun intended. Have been cycling for over 30 years, and have yet to find a tire I prefer over Conti. Consistent, reliable, carefree, long lasting, and a great grippy ride.
