Poor performance
Agree 100% with Karl's review. They look the biz but awful performance. I am now having the tub removed from the wheel and vittoria extension attached.
Very "meh" valve extender
There is something about these valve extenders that causes everybody to say "Aha! What a great idea!". Whether it's the option to close the valve inside of the rim (compared to a hollow extender where you leave the valve open and can't close it) or maybe it's that the extender can be removed for that super clean look you're going for. Whatever it is about these that appeals to you, trust me, it doesn't make up for their poor performance. While all of the features are fairly ingenious, their delivery when it's game time is lacking. It takes a significant amount of effort to get the extender to thread onto the valve WITHOUT LEAKING. Seems intuitively obvious right? Stick it in the valve hole, screw it onto the valve, boom good to go but it's just not so. After screwing it on, unscrewing the valve with the silver part, and putting the pump head on, you will hear either nothing, indicating a good seal (about 2/5 times hence the 2/5 stars) or air leaking out of the poor seal between the extender and the valve (3/5 of the time). They do work but it takes a lot more finagling than a valve extender should require and the last thing I want to do 10 minutes before a race when pumping up my tires is finagle with finicky valve extenders.
More convenient than a plain extension
Topeak's valve extender doesn't just add length to the outside of your valve, it also includes a captive rod inside the body that grabs the original valve's lock nut.
