Gets you home

Carried one of these in my saddle bag for ages. One of the guys in our group punctured twice within a few miles and I spotted a small tear on side wall of tyre. We still had about 30miles to do and the tyre boot came to the rescue. Easy to apply and job done. Home safely with no further punctures. I've heard of other riders user gel wrappers but why risk it for a few pounds?

Why risk it?

Given the size, weight, and cost of these boots, why wouldn't you have at least one in your seat bag? Flats happen and although (thankfully) not so often, the need to 'boot' the tire to get home occurs. These boots are straightforward to apply--remove the film from the sticky side and apply over the tear. Replace/repair the damaged tube, re-seat the bead, pump, and your on your way. While some discard a tire that has been booted after returning home, I personally ride booted tires (depending on how severe the cut) throughout their tread life. So, the choice is yours . . . a phone call, a long walk, or a quick repair with a boot and on your way.
