Topeak Mini 20 Pro Multi Tool

Functionality: you probably won't need all of the tools on board at oncebut it's nice knowing that they're there. The only very minor complaint would be it's a bit difficult to extract the right tool due to the combination high tension on the pivot bolts and lack of notches some of the tools. Built quality - very, very good, nicely weighed and the finishes are pleasing enough you want to carry it around in your hand just for the sake of it. Value: bought this on sale so price is comparable to less functional (i.e., lower number of tools) items, still for the quality this is a decent bit of bangs for your bucks.

T25 didn't hold up

This mini tool is useful on the road. but the chain splitter a bit flimsy, and the t25 snapped with a less than 25 nm pressure. (measured with my torque wrench after the snap).

Minimal and light ideal for weight-conscious roadies

The Topeak may be small but it's comfortable in the hand. The chain tool has to be removed to use, but that provides finer control when pushing in the pin- something especially useful on narrow 11 speed chains - and the inclusion of a chain hook makes it easier to seat the chain. Neatly, the 3mm Allen key is integrated into the chain tool, meaning that maintenance of the mini pro itself- re-tightening bolts-is easy. The tyre lever is a little short, especially if your tyres are a tight fit, but for emergencies its fine. The 10mm Allen key isn't the most common of sizes-found only a few, usually BB30, cranksets- but far more popular 8mm is here too.

Good quality mini multitool with clean bits and indifferent integrated chain splitter

In the race for the title of best compact multitool, Topeak's Hex Mini 20 gets the nod based on its useful tool selection (including chain hook and Mavic spoke key) and the small matter of leaving nearly a tenner in your pocket compared with some of the competition.

The Hex’s tools are all good quality, sharp and well dened for accurate tting into bolt heads. The chain tool isn’t any easier to use than on other fold-out multitools, but no harder either. If you want better chain tool action, get one with a clip-off chain tool.

In years gone by the Hex’s big brother, the Topeak Alien, bristling with enough gadgets to please a squad of bike-riding SAS troopers, would have been on test, but the feedback we’ve been getting from shops and consumers is that the Hex is a more popular/useful tool.
