Not great but better than nothing.

This is the traditional chainring bolt tool, but it just isn't that great. The portion that engages the slot in the nut just doesn't have that much purchase, so it's pretty hard to keep the tool properly in place while applying torque.

Useful if you find your chainring bolts just spin when tightening by allen key - but not brilliant

When you tighten your chainring bolts by allen key and the nut on the back of the chainring just spins, you need to hold it to tighten against.
You can usually make do by shoving the end of a screwdriver into the slot on the nut, but this tool is designed to fit into the slots and hold it tight.
It does this, but it's not exactly the highest quality, just a piece of pressed metal, and it doesn't hold it that securely so you still risk skinned knuckles - but hey, it's not exactly expensive either

Stop frustration

If you don't have the 5mm/6mm paired chainring bolts, this will save some frustration and damage to your chainring bolts when they seize up
