A must have if you use Campy Power torque cranks

I'd seen all sorts of doom & gloom recently when I decided to use Campagnolo power torque cranks, having the puller set to service the cranks solves all these problems, not sure what all the dis-information was about, purchase the correct tools & servicing is a breeze. Considering the small amount of people that actually can be bothered doing their own services (or in fact getting any services done at all), I'm not sure why people don't have a stock of the correct tools at home, home servicing is easy.

It works, what more do you need.

Went to all my local bikes shops within 40km radius and none could remove Campy crankset bearings. Too much ShimaNO customers I guess. So I brought this as it was a reasonable price and I had no shop mechanic options. Did the job easily. Warning: Yes, some of it is plastic. So... 1) Remember to remove the washer on the drive side crank FIRST! 2) Use WD40 on the bearings first and let it soak in. Especially if your bearings are old and rusted (not that mine were). 3) Take your time to ensure the claws are securely attached under the bearings. Making sure to tension the side screws to ensure a secure fit. 4) It can make a loud noise when extracting the bearing; like its about to break. Just hope it doesn't, but it should pull the bearing off if you used enough WD40. 5) Maintain your crankset! Re-greasing your bearings regularly; as this will help with removal later on. So if you ride a lot in the rain or wet conditions. Do it often.

CBP3

Essential tool for replacing campag BB bearings. Not cheap but the puller has jaws just the right size to slip under the bearing and the pull distance (length of threaded bar and cage ) is set in proportion to the crank size - i.e. its designed specifically for the job and makes it a 2 minute job to remove and install new with the included installer. A bit irritating that a further adaptor kit will be required in addition to this puller for other campag systems - at a similar price. For the money, I feel both should be supplied.

Good price and quality

I recently installed a new Campagnolo groupset onto an old bike, so I bought the Park CB3 and the Park CB5 so that I can remove the cranks and also service the bottom bracket. I work in engineering and I considered buying a puller and making the adapters I needed myself, but when I looked for a decent quality puller elsewhere there were no real savings to be made, and this one is made for the job, so doesn't involve me sawing and filing adapters in my garage. I used it to remove the crank just to try it out and it seems to work fine, solid, no slipping and risk of scratches, the bearing installers are of exactly the right dimensions and seem solid enough for a workshop so they will easily last the few times I will need those. Maybe it would be cheaper to go to a bike shop to have the parts removed but I reckon I'll have the cranks off more than four or five times in the life of the bike and that would be about break-even I expect, so for the benefit of the convenience of being able to do everything myself when I want to do it, the cost is well worth it. So good quality and at a price that seems expensive but will certainly pay for itself in terms of not having to visit the bike shop and pay them to remove my cranks.

Quick & easy with Park Tool

How seriously easy is it to do your Campagnolo Ultra Torque bearings with this handy Park Tool puller? It's an excellent bit of kit which is well made, easy to use and most importantly, no risk of damaged or busted cranks while ham-fistedly wielding screw drivers and cir-clip pliers to get the bearings free of the hirth joint.

I found the (many) instructional videos on-line showing prep, removal and re-assembly all very helpful and like all their products, Park Tool offer high quality and ease of use. Combine that with the fantastic price and service offered by PBK you really can't go wrong.

I've now done three sets of UT bearings and it could not be quicker or easier with the help of the Park Tool CBP-3.
