I have ridden wider saddles with the curved shape at about 140 mm width for years. They were ok but never truly comfortable. After thinking about it, these saddles poked me in the thighs and I was always sliding too far forward. I bought a Prologo Nago Evo Pas saddle and it was a big improvement with its 134 mm width and flatter profile, but still wasn’t quite right. My recent purchase of the Fizik Arione at ProBikeKit was the ultimate success for me. I am very flexible and the flat profile is perfect, letting me get my sit bones right where they need to be without constantly forcing me forward onto the nose. I don’t miss having a cutout at all. I think the cutouts on my previous saddles actually provided less support and more discomfort. It is easy to move around on this saddle to change up positions on long rides but you stay were you want to be. I normally keep my thighs lightly up against the thigh glides to put my sit bones in the sweet spot. The padding is firm but compliant. 70 mile rides have been no problem. Keep in mind that this saddle is, as advertised, for the most flexible rider in a more aggressive riding position so if you can’t bend over much, opt for the Antares or the Aliante. In any case I think the way to go is the narrow saddle for most people.
I ride 2000 miles or so annually. My old Specialized Body Geometry saddle was worn out, and I was looking for a little more rounded profile on the nose. This saddle was perfect. I has reservations about the lack of a center channel, but the padding is excellent, so it only took a ride or two to get accustomed to the different feel. I rode a 75 miler on my third ride with this saddle and was comfortable the whole ride. I would buy this again.
