Boasting serviceable cup and cone bearings for easy maintenance and improved life of your pedals, the pedals also have adjustable cleat tension. I use these for commuting 10 miles each way to work. They take some getting used to but the efficiency gain was noticeable and well worth the change. I like the flexibility of having both functions available especially to get across numerous intersections for a commute. I probably would not use these on a road bike as I prefer the other style for long uninterrupted rides. They seemed easy to install and adjust although I have a personal mechanic so for me it was really easy. My wrench seemed to have no trouble with the install!
I was surprised by the quality and finish on these pedals for the price. These are a great value for those of us who feel more comfortable being able to choose whether to be clipped in on more technical areas.
If your looking for a pedal that will allow you to clip in and ride 50 miles and then turn around the next day and ride 4-5 miles with any style shoe by just flipping the pedal over, this is the pedal!! My wife and I will typically clip in for 30-50 miles on the weekends but during the week we ride with two groups for short distances. These pedals allows you to choose between clipping in with biking shoes or wear any shoe you like. We urban ride a few times a month and you stop a lot, during these rides we just wear tennis shoes and flip our pedals over. This is a SPD Pedal BUY THESE YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
