I bought these to go with my 11 speed upgrade. The stopping power is great and they look really nice also. Would definitely recommend to others!

I'm 6'2", 205 lbs and I purchased the Ultegra BR-6800 to replace the Tektro brakes on my Cannondale Synapse. I felt that the bikes stock brake caliper and pads (which I put over 1,700 miles on) were not working well enough; yes, the pads were still in excellent condition. I was not concerned about weight but performance for this change. Reviews for the BR-6800 told me that braking performance would increase substantially. Five minutes after installing the new brake calipers and pads myself I was expecting Formula 1 race car performance when riding around the driveway at night; the brakes were disappointing. Then I went for a few rides and seated the pads. Now is when I started to notice the improvements of my new brakes. My best example is riding down Decker Canyon in SoCal; I've read that grade to be anywhere from 17% to 22% (it's steep!). With my Tektros I was scared of not being able to slow in time for turns or the riders in front of me. With the new BR-6800's I was able to brake much later than normal and have a lot more confidence in controlling my bike. This boost in confidence has also been experienced at certain stop signs that I always approached to quickly. The modulation was above satisfactory and even though I did not test it, I'm fairly sure I could easily squeeze hard enough on the front brakes to fly over the handle bars. If I had to upgrade all over again, I certainly would purchase these brakes. Thank you to the engineers at Shimano.
